Stand up straight and look sharp. The Queen's back on Coronation Street. No not Bet Lynch, or Elsie Tanner. The ACTUAL Queen. You know the one Vera Duckworth was related to?

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II glided across a red carpet to the Coronation Street theme tune this afternoon in a surprise visit to the cobbles at MediaCity, Salford. There's a great thread of the event on ITV News Royal Editor
Chris Ship's Twitter account which details how the monarch entered via Victoria Street in the royal Bentley, past Roy's Rolls and Preston's Petals and met some of the senior cast members outside the Rovers Return. It was smiles all round as the Queen looked like she was meeting old friends as Bill Roach, Barbara Knox, Sue Nicholls and Helen Worth welcomed her to the set.

Corrie boss Iain MacLeod led the Queen around Coronation Street, later introducing younger cast members Ruxandra Porojnicu (Alina) and Charlotte Jordan (Daisy). Whilst chatting with them the Queen suggested the programme doesn't do a lot of "trouble" but she was quickly corrected by the pair and Ian MacLeod who said they try to balance the trouble with a bit of fun.

The Queen is apparently a fan of Eastenders more than Corrie, unlike her Mum and Prince Charles, who have been reported to have keenly tuned in to the sixty-year-old institution. She has however visited the cobbles on numerous occasions and met icons such as Liz Dawn, Bev Callard and Pat Phoenix.
It's been a tough few months for the Queen as she lost her husband in April and has been dealing with long periods of isolation, like the rest of us, during the pandemic.
I hope a visit to the country's most famous street cheered her up.

Fantastic!
Only that's not Sue Cleaver, it's Sue Nicholls.
Of course it is! Thank you Fluttershy - corrected.

Thank you Fluttershy - corrected!
Lovely story - and the (real) queen looks radiant! What an example to the rest of us.
The Queen looks amazing.
I remember seeing Sue Nichols shopping in Kendals in Manchester. She was so familiar looking that I knew I knew her from somewhere so I said hello. She gave me a big smile and said hello back. It wasn't until later I realised where I knew her from. Seemed like a lovely lady! Actually she is a lady / Dame!
Loved the short videos, and seeing the cast with big smiles at this surprise visit.
