There is a fab - and I mean FAB - interview in this week's Inside Soap magazine with Coronation Street producer Stuart Blackburn. He tells us loads of good things about upcoming storylines on Corrie, all of them worth their own blog post, they're that good!
First off, Owen Armstrong's ex-wife will arrive on the Street.
Stuart says: "The picture that's already been painted of her by Owen is that she was too young, and couldn't cope with Izzy's disability. But that turns out not to be the whole truth, and the woman has genuine regrets about what has happened - the biggest one being leaving Owen!
"Her arrival is going to be a real challenge for Anna and the Armstrongs and it will give Katy some big choices to make. We are casting that role in the next few weeks."
Stuart also says that a couple of old favourite characters will return. "We have a couple of returning favourites on the cards."

Wow, more new characters and a couple of old ones return. We're going to need a bigger street. Sounds like Stuart B is tired of the existing characters and is hellbent bringing in hordes of new people. I don't know. Not sure I am seeing this as a plus.
Cilla's going to be one of them i suppose. Bringing in old favourites is better than bringing in more and more new ones, I agree. I think it's a good idea to bring back Owen's ex wife as it always felt like a loose end. Probably precursor to Katy's leaving, I would think.
Well in soap land if the spouse is not dead then they will always be brought in. Unfortunately this means even more Windarm 'problems'. Perhaps Katy leaves with her? Otherwise SB really needs to cull some dead wood before constantly bringing in new characters.
Its just an ACME plot device for Katy's leaving story. Her Mum will be a successful business woman and offer her a job overseas or somewhere exotic and Katy will leave.
