Did anyone spot anything different about the Coronation Street set on last night's double Corrie?
I wondered if we were seeing the new set for the first time? I thought that angles and depths looked different, the bricks looked brighter and the cement in between the bricks on the houses looked different too.
Also, when Jason went to look at the Victoria Court site with Kal and Dev to price up for the gym venture, the walk from Victoria Court down Rosamund Street seemed to take an age, much longer than usual.
Did anyone else notice or do I need my eyes checked?
Of course, the two real give-aways as to whether we're watching the new set or not will be when we see the extra door beside Roy's Rolls and the two windows upstairs at the Rovers Return - neither of which were shown on screen last night.
Coronation Street also had a new Director last night - Audrey Cooke.

I wondered that, because it's surely time for it to appear. Not seen the extra Rovers window though! :p
I wasn't sure last night, we saw a lot of new pointing on the brickwork. But having looked at pictures of the new set, I don't think it was. The lamposts were moved on the new set away from the kerb. On last night's programmes they were next to the kerb.
I noticed a little something, the windows on the side of Barlow's Buys were chipping away on the old set last night, then in the very scene you mentioned, they were fixed, lol. Going to go and compare.
I don't know. They only started filming, at least with the actors, right after new Year. Might be a bit soon. But perhaps they have some some outdoor shots without the actors to cut in?
No still on old set if you look at windows of roys rolls behind dev, they are still the narrower version
I recall seeing an article that said Georgia May Foote as Katy would be the first actor seen on the first broadcast using the new set. Where did I see that???
I've heard the new Street set is on screen from
March :-)
Definitely old set - you can see the tell-tale damp on the walls of the houses on the newer side and there hasn't been enough time for that to appear on the new set.
Also, Audrey Cooke directed the episodes shown in the week of 16th to 22nd December 2013.
I think it changes around 14 Feb.
