Winners announced in our Rovers Return competition

Congratulations go to 10 lucky Coronation Street Blog readers who have each one of the Rovers Return fridge magnets in our latest competition.

Magnets will be on there way soon to the following 10 winners who were drawn at random from all correct entries received.  Emails have been sent to all winners who are -  Conor Wilson, June Brown, Sian Gorst, Lori Jo Coleman, Ron Barr, Murna Gitlin, Sue Leon, Nadia Stanbridge, Allen de Young, Aline Russell.

The wonderfully talented Pickled Jo has designed some brand new fridge magnets featuring the new-look Rovers Return, just for us here at the Coronation Street Blog.  The new-look Rovers, you'll notice, has two upstairs windows and we'll be seeing it soon on our screens as it's part of the new set that Corrie is now using to film on.

The answers to the questions we posed are as follows:

1. Whose name or names are currently above the door at the Rovers Return on Coronation Street?
Steve McDonald and Michelle Connor - and here's the proof (as a lot of people got this answer wrong).

2. On Pickled Jo's website, which Coronation Street character has a pair of scissors in their hand?
Audrey

How cool! Thank you so much! I really like Jo's work, and love to add this to my Corrie Collection!

I thought Steve was not allowed to be a licensee due to his criminal record. Isn't that the reason that Liz had to have her name above the door before?

I have wondered the same thing Bev. I thought that was part of the reasoning for bringing Liz back this time too.

I didn't enter the contest but I did notice the photo and thought the same thing. Even before Steve bought back the bar from the Price family, it was mentioned in the show that Liz was the official owner/licensee and Steve's equity interest in the bar was an informal/off-book arrangement.

I recall an article, I believe on this very blog, referring to a newspaper interview with Simon; he said it was really great that Steve could finally get his name above the door as something like a statute of limitations made him free of that restriction. Now, after 10 minutes searching, I found it! Here it is -- interview with David Brown of Radio Times:

--But Simon says in the interview: “Owning the Rovers is quite cool and it’s the first time I’ve seen my name above the door, so I had a little moment there. Steve could never be the licensee before, he can now as any criminal record has lapsed.”--
