Yes, I realize this isn't a photo of Peter and Leanne but it's part of the whole story. Peter and Leanne are going to make a go of it all in spite of Nick's efforts. Even at the last, when Peter was threatening Nick, he couldn't let it go without a few more sly digs, aimed to push Peter's buttons. He even gave him a bottle of booze which in turn got thrown at his head. I only wish it had connected!
But in the end, Ken made Peter realize that it was worth working at, worth working hard and making a go of it because Peter and Leanne really are good for each other and they really do love each other. And naturally, I had a ramble about it all over here.

Me too...I got all mushy during the last moment at the train station. I really think that Leanne had better have a couple of hamburgers though...way too thin..looking anorexic I think.
Oooh, I was waiting for this post about the teary train station reunion! I think my hopes went up for these 2 episodes when I saw that beautiful red decorated beret Leanne was wearing. It's a gorgeous colour and suits her face really well. It looked too romantic for a leave-taking, better for a liaison. That, and Simon saying "I need to speak to Leanne". (Sob.) Anyhoo, YAY!
As mentioned on your blog, Tvor, it wasn't the new Piccadilly station where Lea went for her London connection. Shame, it would have been an even better scene there. Still, as soon as our hero Ken finally had some success with his fatherly advice, we knew what was coming. Really got the waterworks going in my house! Does anyone remember such a brilliant second-chance-at-love scene on Corrie before? I don't. It verged on the cinematic. Kudos to the gang at ITV,
Brilliant line, delivered beautifully by Ken to Peter: "Yeah, well she was lucky to find a saint when she stumbled upon you!"
Yes I agree it was cinematic (and Leanne's hat was brilliant) - but almost anti-climactic after the massive build-up with the Joinery scene and the church scene. I never thought I'd say this, as I love a romantic ending as much as anyone, but I did really want Leanne to leave! *ducks*
Leanne must have plenty of dosh to fork out seventy quid for a one way ticket to London only just not to get on the train. I thought it was all rather trite, Peter suddenly doing a complete U turn at the very last minute, hobbling down the station steps. The train should have sailed away and Peter should have gone to London to bring her back and give us a rest from the pair of them for a couple of weeks. Lets move on to other storiesand characters now, I have had more than enough of Peter, Nick and Leanne.
Maggie Muggins, I actually thought the old Victorian station suited the scene better - it was a real Celia Johnson/Trevor Howard moment! All it lacked was a hissing cloud of steam for Leanne to emerge out of.
And for me, Ken's crucial line - the pivotal line of the week's events, was "Tell me one single thing she's done to you, that you haven't done to someone else - or indeed, to her?" As I said in a previous post, you can trust the Elder Barlows to lob the devastating recriminations, and my God, this one hit home!
I felt last Monday's events in the church were like watching a tram crash all over again, but what a rollercoaster of a week! Brilliant catharsis, and a spontaneous, simoultaneous cry of "Thank God" from all our family when the final credits rolled last night. Fantastic stuff!
For me, it was the only ending possible for another incredible Corrie week. The acting by all the 'Barlows' was spot on, the writing brilliant.Yes, I filled up at the end.I'm glad they didn't drag the storyline out,and please,no baby Barlow by Christmas unless it's a newborn, we don't need a 'who's the father'.Simon has already said he wants a brother or sister(Maybe both as twins run in the family!)
I agree with Cobblestone.
That line of Ken's was the moment.
"Tell me one single thing she's done to you, that you haven't done to someone else....or indeed, to her?"
The look on Peter's face as it dawned on him, and he went from angry to upset......*sigh*
LOVE that it all worked out!! I'm sure they'll have rough patches to get over, and I'm sure Nick will be lurking .... but I'm glad the writers have decided (for now) to keep Peter, Leanne and Simon together.

I think Leanne's affair with Nick has been over too long for her to be pregnant by him and by all accounts, Peter's not been functional either due to his injuries so i think we've been spared yet another who's the daddy story.
Oh Frosty, of course it was trite and cliche, that's what soaps are all about but we expect that last minute romantic moment at the train station! It's all about happily ever after in the end whenever possible, even if just for a time.
And yes, the older train station did suit the scene better. Manchester Piccadilly has one staircase up and over a platform to another one but it's metal and concrete and not romantic at all. The London train isn't at that platform, either but most people watchin would never realize the difference between the stations anyway.
Definitely a 5 Kleenex episode! So beautifully acted that the things-that-make-it-a-soap (ie the road to Damascus realisations so soon) just weren't an issue.
And I thought that filming it at Victoria, well again, not technically right but it is such a lovely, old fashioned station that it made the Peter-Leanne reunion a bit like a scene from Brief Encounter.
I'm glad (I think) that they made it up, I just hope Leanne doesn't get tempted again with Nick in the future.
Please let them live happily ever after, surely one couple on the street should be happy!
The red beret was a bit too symbolic..she might as well have worn a bright red A stitched onto her lapel...but we couldn't have Leanne with anyone else but a loser like Peter could we?
I've loved the climax of this storyline and am thrilled that Peter and Leanne are going to give their marriage another try. Their reunion was a bit rushed and we could do with seeing some really solid scenes of them sitting down and thrashing out all their issues (which I don't think we'll get - I think they are going to shoot off on that honeymoon Peter booked and will do all that talking off-screen, alas) but overall I'm very satisfied with the outcome. I want them to enjoy a bit of stability together now.
Yup. It was predictable at the end, but I blubbed at the end!
I don't consider Peter a loser. I think Nick is a loser, frankly and not because he lost out to Peter. He's arrogant and snide, smug and cowardly, he hides behind women, doesn't take the blame for anything. Look how he treated Natasha?! He had no respect for Leanne's decision to stay with and marry Peter and kept pushing Peter to drink. He seems to want to be a Mike Baldwin type person but he doesn't have the charm or the strength to pull it off. Mike was pretty reprehensible sometimes too. Mike learned when to cut his losses and back off. Nick hasn't yet.
Oh Tvor, you're so wise. I so agree with you about Nick (pity the Nasty Nick tag can't be used about him).
Nick is so smug, mean and nasty, so who wanted to just slap Gail and Audrey who were just "Oh Nick Love, Dahling" in every blooming scene - I swear my foot nearly went through' telly!
LOL@Beth...me too!! I think we haven't seen the last of nasty Nick tho..he surely has something else up his sleeve.
Agree with Tvor and Beth. I really want Nick off my screen! Like Leanne and Peter and am happy that they're back 'together'. The only issue for me was that it was an all too quick decision and seemed a bit cliche. Didn't like the church episode either. Ah well!
Big mistake when Leanne buys her ticket at the station... It was not Picadilly but instead was Victoria. All London bound trains without any changes all depart from Picadilly not Victoria. Maybe ITV would have to pay more to film a Virgin's train and at Picadilly rather than a local commuter train pulling away from Victoria but they still managed to use the annoucement from Picadilly (Maybe dubbed in the studio afterwards) I'm not the only one that picked this up ITV...
I SURE! HOPE! IT LASTS! I CAN'T STAND THIS NICK, AND I'D MUCH RATHER SEE LEANNE WITH PETER! WHO I LOVE! AND WHO IS SO! HOT! AND SO SEXY! TO ME, AND I REALLY HOPE! LEANNE DOESN'T GIVE IN TO NICK, IF SHE DOES THEN I'LL GLADLY! HAVE PETER....
