William Roache has ruled out another live episode for Coronation Street. William, who plays Corrie's Ken Barlow, said that the soap would not do a live episode to celebrate its 50th anniversary in December, as EastEnders did for its 25th anniversary in February this year.
He said: "We're not going to do a live episode, we did that in the Millennium year, we don't want to do that again."
Personally, I see no reason why Corrie should do a live episode for their 50th, but what do you think?

I think that is a shame. I hope something rather unique can be planned for the 50th that will generate a big media buzz.
I can't understand why he doesn't want to do another live episode, a most bizarre decision !
I cant see what advantage for the viewers a "live" episode would be anyway? I would like to see a few old faces gather for cameos for the 50th, not to be brought back, but I dont know what story could be engineered to do this.
The live episode from 2000 is really good, and it's on youtube btw. Noddy Holder!
For a start, their memories for learning lines are ten years older....
The live episode was stagey, technically horrendous and took weeks to rehearse.
Yes, It was a great 40th novelty, and spawned other soap live episodes.. (where Corrie goes, others follow)
A live episode is "been there, done that", and would offer nothing original to the 50th anniversary. It would be COPYING a past idea.
I'd rather that a tightly-woven, richly written episode or two were made in keeping with the great tradition of Corrie.
Also, I wouldn't have to get very drunk again and fall over in the staff loos.
