Coronation Street Episode Review Monday 21st September

Who are you missing in Corona Corrie? I miss Evelyn (and Cerberus), Ken, Audrey, Gail and Liz (how is Liz going to have an exit storyline if she isn't here to exit?). I don't miss any of the child actors, which is fortunate as none of them are on t'cobbles, even though they feature heavily in one of tonight's storylines. I don't really get why they're not on the show; tiny children like Lily might run around, un-social distancing, but older ones, such as Jack, could be told the rules - child actors must have some kind of discipline, surely.

Anyway, the storyline is that Kevin is unsure about leaving Jack with Abi, especially as he thinks she is getting him hooked on sherbert. Jack tells Abi he's being bullied by his so-called mates, picking on him because of his blade (I was going to insert an Oscar Pistorious joke, but too soon?) Abi tells him to stand up for himself which Jack interprets as hitting Hope. To be honest, Hope's probably deserved it over the years. Anyway, Kevin kicks off, Abi retaliates and they fall out. Abi stomps off to the pub to buy a bottle of Newton and Ridley blended Scotch and is intercepted by guardian angel Peter, whom she then tries to seduce. Peter turns her down and Abi returns home to a repentant Kev and Abi tells Peter in t'ginnel that it was all an error. He tells her that he can't help her any more, but unforch for him, both Carla and Debbie have clocked what's going on.

The doc tells Leanne that Oliver has had more seizures and Ms Battersby does her customary chin tilt and acts like denial is only a river in Egypt. Emma has raised £500 for Oliver's treatment by her sponsored silence - so only £499,500 to go! Nick offers to make up the difference by selling his shares in Underworld. Well, that'll fetch another ten grand after Carla does some hard-ball negotiating, I suppose. Steve starts talking about releasing money from Streetcars to a property company (presumably Ray's) and from the florist's, to Tracy's disapproval, although she later changes her mind.

Prostitute Sex Worker Female Escort Nicky brings sandwiches round to Daniel's. She hasn't made them herself but she has dreams of being a chef at her aunty's B&B in Lytham, but just needs to pay off some debts first. Unless her aunt runs a gourmet guesthouse, I'm not sure cooking egg, bacon and beans with a round of toast times ten every morning would be be that much fun, but that's just me. If this is a scam, I'm not sure why she thinks Daniel has got any dough. He's unemployed, his dad sunk all his money into the Stillwater disaster and Adam is far too canny to let Daniel anywhere near the solicitors' bank account. Anyway, scam or not, it'll be put on hold for a while as Nicky overhears him saying to Kirk who emotionally blackmails (Beth is at home crying) Daniel into saying that he will never replace Sinead with a sex worker. Even one who wears her cardigan and perfume. She yells at him and demands £200 for the, erm, afternoon delight they shared earlier. They make up and Daniel tells her he's not ashamed of her, but still refuses to go and tell Ken what she does for a living and Nicky does the patented Leanne storming off.

And - yay - Kenneth-from-Benidorm turns up to apologise to Mary, again. This is a great bit of casting and I'm pleased that Mary is (presumably) getting a boyfriend. Although I am of course disappointed that George "son of Archie" Shuttleworth isn't wearing denim hotpants and a bad attitude.
