Rovers Return dream team hits Coronation Street

I could not be happier with the news today that Jenny and Johnny Connor are going to be the new owners of the Rovers Return.

Jenny flaming Bradley behind the bar at the Rovers!  It's going to be great stuff - not easy for her at first, I'd imagine as she takes on a new job in Weatherfield which firmly puts paid to her plans of living it up in Spain.

But not only will Jenny be working behind the bar at the Rovers, ITV also reveal today that she will be taking on Gemma as her barmaid.

And as this preview picture shows, it looks like Liz is back behind the bar too, perhaps to give Jenny some much-needed advice in her new job, I wonder?

I think Jenny has what it takes to become an iconic landlady at the Rovers Return - the hair, the looks, the attitude. I just wonder who she'll bar first!

And please, Corrie, let there be a lovely scene in the back room of the pub between her and Rita.

Is anyone else as excited as I am about the change of guard at the Rovers Return? I mean, Toyah's done her best, bless her, but landlady material she was not. I wonder where she'll go to live, perhaps with Leanne into her new flat in Tile Street?

They've really struggled to find the right direction for Toyah ever since her return. It's a shame, Georgia Taylor is such a good actor. Hopefully they will take her in a completely new direction and bring back some of her earlier sass and sparkle.

They missed their chance with Toyah. She and Peter should have split soon after arriving on the Street, giving them completely different storylines. Jenny and Johnny behind the bar promises to be a fantastic opportunity for comedy and drama. I see something of Annie Walker and the young Bet Lynch in the future relationship between Jenny and Gemma. Sally Ann Matthews has perfected 'the look' which says everything. Great news, can't wait.

I'm happy that Jenny will be running the pub. Not so much Johnny, I don't like him. And as for Gemma, no, not barmaid material, far too gobby and thick as two short planks.

Not too happy about Liz staying on as barmaid either, that's not going to work unless Johnny goes (early death maybe?). Can but hope.

I think Jenny & Gamma behind the bar sounds fun!

I agree that they don't know what to with Toyah. You'd think with all the
resident's personal problems, as a counsellor, she'd be run off her feet. Why not pair her up with Kevin? It's time Leeanne had a love interest too - when's Nick Tisley coming back? Jenny behind the Rover's bar - fab. Johnny - no, especially as deep down, he's in love with Liz.I think he'll start boozing in a big way.

Not keen on this lineup at all. I don’t understand why TPTB wanted Liz out of that role. She’s a natural as landlady. And as for the ghastly Gemma as barmaid....
