Jennie McAlpine returns to work at Coronation Street

Jennie McAlpine, who plays Fiz Stape, has returned to work at Coronation Street after taking maternity leave.  Jennie posted the following to twitter yesterday:

Jennie gave birth to a baby boy at the end of November last year and she has named him Albert.

We last saw Fiz on screen when she went off to stay with her mum Cilla, taking babies Ruby and Hope with her and leaving Tyrone on his own.

I've missed a bit of Fiz's energy on the Street and it'll be good to have that spark back.

Sad to say but she really hasn't been missed. After all that care she gave Cilla I wonder how long it will be before Cilla gets a visit from Fiz

Not one of my favourites but I think Jennie has matured into a very decent actress.

Also, despite thinking I'd hate it, I actually found myself quite enjoying Cilla's last stint in Weatherfield.

Oh gawd, not looking forward to it. I hope she stops speaking to people (especially Roy) with that voice of hers that sounds like she's reading a bedtime story to a 3-year-old.

I look forward to it! We need a Dobbs-Brown wedding next!

Haven't missed her and that's the real test of a character. She'll probably hate Roy's new friend. Have to agree about her voice which, like Gail's, seems to have developed only in recent years. Neither character originally had such silly voices.

Have not missed her either. Time for her to go back to Cilla and stay there.

I have missed her terribly! Fiz is one of my fave characters for her upfront, doesn't take any nonsense attitude!
Can't wait to see her back, and I'd love to see her get wed to Tyrone!

Used to really like her, especially when she first appeared on the Street, but have tired of the character in recent years and haven't missed her at all. Hope they give Fiz and Tyrone a decent storyline soon, or else what's the point.....

Amanda, I was thinking the exact same thing! I really hope Fizz and Tyrone get a decent storyline. I was getting really tired of her character before she left and absolutely hated the way she talked to Roy.

I haven't missed Fiz either and dare I say it,I've noticed that Tyrone has had more of a social life with his friends in her absence, even friendly to Maria whereas the only time we've seen Tyrone is in the pub with Fiz who can be controlling at times.
I also hope that Fiz doesn't cause trouble for Roy's new friend either.

This is good news. I like Fiz. It will be good to see a Tyrone/Fiz story for a change and get away from the Platts. Although I did hate the way she was treating Roy for awhile...her I can forgive. She has been like a daughter and they really are a family...families fight and say stupid things sometimes. Anna, on the other hand I can't forgive. The way she teated Roy was horrible. She was no better to Owen actually.
So, here's hoping some NEW story lines are coming up...WITHOUT the Platts and Windass clan.

Let's hope for a return of the spirited Fiz of old - not the whiny, baby-voiced Fiz who unfortunately emerged in recent years.
