Sneak preview of tonight's Corrie - Peter and Leanne's dark night of the soul

Coronation Street, Thursday 2nd February

LEANNE AND PETER HAVE A DARK NIGHT OF THE SOUL

As Anne, Sally and Frank head off for a celebratory drink, convinced the jury will take Frank's side now they've exposed Carla and Peter's lies, a devastated Leanne pours her heart out to Stella. As she reveals it was a drunken Carla who ran her over, not Frank, Stella's shocked. Peter finally tracks Leanne down and tells her sorry he is for everything. Leanne's in bits as it dawns on her how many times Peter's lied to her about meeting his alcohol counsellor when really he was with Carla. But as she calms down Leanne starts to wonder if they can salvage their marriage. Pointing out how Peter forgave her for her affair with Nick she suggests in time perhaps she can forgive him in return. Peter insists he does love Leanne but he's in love with Carla and what they have is different. However with the future of his family at stake and a devastated Simon to think of will Peter accept Leanne's forgiveness or is this the end of the line?

Ooh, sounds like it will be a good one tonight!

And it was! The performances were superb - but no surprise there, with Danson & Gasgoine foregrounded. Actually I found the climactic scenes almost unbearable to watch (in a really good way) especially from the moment we saw Simon looking out of that window. Heartbreaking stuff.

On a lighter note though, was I the only one who had to surpress a guffaw at the sight of Stella blocking the way to the Rovers' backroom, staunchly denying access to someone who claimed he "only wanted to talk". Such dark irony ... inadvertant, do you think?

It was really good acting last night, wasn't it? Chris Gascogine is a great actor, same with Jane Danson. The actor who plays little Simon excellent too.

I am finding St Stella very irritating. She does a lot of sticking her nose in.

It was a fantastic episode. Alison/Jane/Chris play their characters wonderfully.

I've never been a fan of Leanne/Peter pairing. But tonight, I couldn't help but enjoy Jane's performance. Leanne is definitely better off without Peter. With him, she lost her edge.

Jane Danson is just superb! There is so much emotion in her acting - heartbreaking! I, too, found it difficult viewing because the pain was so tangible. Poor little Simon!

Yep, one heck of a powerful performance from Jane Danson's Leanne, climaxing in that powerful scene where she physically pushes and pounds Peter back and back in sheer frustration, a tour de force!

- And thankfully this time done in private without any public grandstanding display which, ghoul and vulture combo, sickly gleeful Mary and nosy Norris so dearly craved.

Wow! Just saw this episode this morning. POWERFUL acting! Jane and Chris are incredibly talented actors.
And who didn't shed a tear at the end .... with Simon's grief? Poor little guy!!!
I'll be really happy if that man-stealing bitch Carla gets it. Never liked her and her nasally voice from the get-go. Hated her even more when she played around with Liam. Despise her now! And when is Maria gonna say "hmmmm ... wait a second ... she stole MY hubby, then steals Leanne's hubby ... maybe she IS a Class A Bitch"?

Leanne is as much a bitch, even more of a bitch than Carla. She was a prozzie, erm hello she practically slept with Carla's husband-she was in the back of his car when he had the accident and died and she cheated on Jamie with his dad! and we must forget her affair with Nick, so your precious Leanne is not whiter than white. Leanne is a class AA Bitch!

Fantastic episode. Great acting. Jane Dandson's Leanne was so good. Way to go! Have watched since day one in the UK and now in Canada. I wouldn't miss it. Looking forward to seeing what's next.
