Su Pollard for Marcus' mum on Coronation Street? That was our fan of the week's fantasy Coronation Street storyline last week and it really put a smile on my face. But it also made me think a little more about Marcus' mum and what she'd be like and then it got me thinking some more.
What do we really know about Marcus? He turned up fully, and quite perfectly formed as a boyfriend for Sean, and he's a hit with the fans too. But have we heard him mention his family, his background or where he's from?
I reckon it's time we got to know more about Marcus and if that means bringing in Su Pollard to play his mum, so much the better. What do you think?

He mentioned where he was from to Dennis in the Kabin a few months ago. Can't remember where - Eccles maybe? Maybe someone could find out?
Probably another Salford boy. I wouldnt want to see the annoying OTT Sue Pollard as Marcus's mum and it wouldnt make sense. He would have a decent refined lady as his ma. Someone like Cheri Lungi. What's happened to the Awards by the way?
I haven't seen Friday night's Corrie and i'm in the throes of struggling with a bad back this weekend. I think if i manage to do the awards they'll be a little late. Sorry
As the Sue Pollard style of acting comes direct from the Brian Blessed school of SHOUTING EVERYTHING, (including whispers) accompanied by over excited windmilling arms, might she become the street's female reincarnation of Reg Holdsworth?
One good storyline to cover for corrie would be the background of marcus' coming out story. Not all gay people are so lucky to have supporting family. I reckon corrie should address this and bring into the fact why none of his family are around is that they are from a strict religious background and are very homophobic. This does still happen in this day and age. Some gay people when they come out to their parents become homeless and face problems but then in the end become strong individuals, like marcus' character. The background would suit him and the whole he's going to marry sean would address the family issue when they come to organise the wedding. It would be great for him to have a younger sister :)
Been done already.
Let's have some laughs instead and, no, that doesn't mean the awful Sue Pollard.
I'd like to see Judi Dench as Marcus' prim, reserved mother who wants to reconnect with her son before it is too late - I see some good scenes with Sylvia as well.
