Coronation Street fan of the week - Martin from Wigan

It's Wednesday and time to meet another Corrie fan of the week.  Would you like to be our Coronation Street fan of the week? Click here to find out more.

Who are you and where are you from?
My name is Martin Spencer and  I am from Wigan.  Pictured here on the left with actor Michael Starke who played Jerry Morton.

How long have you been watching Corrie?
I have been watching Corrie for 17 years

Who are your favourite female and male characters - and the reasons why?
My  favourite male character in Corrie has to be Fred Elliot because some of the storylines given to him were so funny. And  my favourite female character has to be Gail Platt because she reminds me of my mum!

What have been some of your favourite Corrie storylines over the years?
My favourite Corrie storylines over the years have to be when Maude Grimes put that fish behind the counter in the corner shop and the shop stunk of fish and when Jack Duckworth posed nude for the art model and Vera put the canvas painting over his head.

And what would your fantasy Corrie storyline be?
My fantasy Corrie storyline would be if Su Pollard came in to Corrie to play Marcus' mum.

Have you any snippets or news about meeting any of the Corrie cast, or trips to the set, etc., that you'd like to share?
When I was at catering college in 2006 our class had a vist to the Granada studios to look at the catering at Granada and at lunchtime we got a 10 min slot  to have a look on the set with the tour guide. One of the staff said they use real meat  in the butchers and it all has to be thrown away at the end of the day.

Also, I have met Charles Lawson (Jim McDonald); Michael Starke (Jerry Morton)  met 2 times and got his autograph  when I saw Sister Act the musical and Hairspry; Ken Morley (Reg Holdsworth) met outside the stage door of the Manchester Palace Theatre; Bruno Langley (Todd Grimshaw) met him and got his autograph when I saw Calendar Girls; Denise Black (Denise Osborne) met her twice at Sister Act and Calendar Girls and got her autograph; Tina O'Brien (Sarah Platt),  met her in Manchester and got her autograph; Sean Wilson (Martin Platt) met him on his cheese stall in the Manchster Xmas markets and got his autograph; Ian Reddington (Vernon Tomlin) met him at We Will Rock You in Manchster and got his autograph and Julie Hesmondhalgh (Hayley Cropper) met her as I was coming out of a restaurant in Manchester.
