The Lesbian and Gay Foundation have praised Coronation Street's lesbian storyline with Sophie and Sian. They say that as Sophie Webster is 'the girl next door', hopefully the nation will be rooting for her and for the lesbian, gay, and bisexual teenagers this story represents.
It's a wonderful online article by Joanne Dunning and I urge you to read it, it's here.

I am sure some viewers who get off on seeing women 1 on 1 will enjoy this. I wonder what God would think.
The Lord ain't going to be too happy about this. Watch out Sophie, remember what you learned at bible class.
I'm sure that if there is a God, she'd be very happy to see two people who enjoy each other's company get it together in full view of the nation!!
i'm sure god doesn't care for judging others either...
I hope God isn't as big of a pervert as people make him out to be. I rather hope that God has more important things to worry over than who people fall in love with. All this focus put on whether someone is gay or straight is disturbing.
I hope this story is handled well. It'll be interesting to see how Sophie reconciles her religious beliefs with her sexuality. Hopefully this story line might make some viewers realize that being a Christian does not automatically make someone prejudiced, or homophobic or whatever. It'd be nice to see people at Sophie's church or whatever it is she goes to, or even Emily, being supportive of her.
I'm looking forward to this storyline. I hope it's handled well, but by Brooke and Sacha's comments it looks like it's going to be. Good luck, Corrie!
I've never known a lesbian to be on ANY soap before. it's as if only gay men are allowed, but I'm definately starting to watch corrie again because of this! :) yes, i am a lesbian, and have always loved these two!
The Bible states we are ALL made in God's holy image so in my opinion that's gay/lesbian people included. Also, he who is without sin cast the first stone. This homophobic atttitude the church has developed is absolutely disgusting!! People forget perverted little priests and minister abusing innocent children but when they hear about someone whose both homosexual and religious its the end of the world. For heavens sake, no one can be happy these days!
I hope the story will be a success and good look to Sacha and Brooke for this challenge!
Can't understand why people still this nonsense. There is no god! It's a man made fairy story made by people who want control. Good on Sophie, men just aren't worthy of you.
