It's the Monday after the Super Soap Week before. From what I've read on twitter and this blog, feelings about it were pretty negative. Whilst some of the CGI was ropey, acting a little OTT and sun shining through the "terrible storm", I thought it was mostly fun - the bringing together of some long running storylines (Harvey, Corey, the flipping sinkhole) and it was more exciting than some of the stories that have gone on (and on) this year (Peter's liver, the mourning of Oliver). Look, it could've been a lot worse: Rita could have led a battening down the hatches singalong in the pub.
Anyhoo, on with the show.
Carla and Jenny are coming to terms with the death of Johnny whilst Nick watches over Natasha in hospital. Jenny's dealing with it by drinking a lot, snapping at Leo (who, let's be honest, could have done a bit more sinkhole-fixing and a lot less lounging at the bar), shouting at Daisy (and throwing her out), and organising a party-slash-quiz for Johnny, which Carla of course finds "inappropriate", but then she softens and talks about what a good man Johnny was and how Jenny was there for him throughout, none of which assuages Jenny, who stomps off with a bottle of whisky. As well as booze, Jenny is drowning in guilt, saying to Leo that Johnny died because of her and for what?
Daisy, meanwhile, fetches up at Daniel's. Any port in a storm, hey, Daise?
No-one's told Sam what's going on but they take him to Kate Oates Memorial anyway where he sees a still breathing (for now) Natasha and Simon tells him that she was shot. They visit Natasha's bedside and she basically gives her deathbed speech, telling Sam how much she loves him, so I think we know that the upcoming operation isn't going to go well. At least Natasha got one more episode credit, I guess.
Roy starts feeling guilty about the gun as he suspects that the now re-incarcerated (not dead!) Harvey shot Natasha with Abi's gun, and Simon also feels he did bad by bringing Harvey into everyone's lives. Shona joins in the guilt-fest by blaming herself and various Platts for not fixing the sinkhole before the latest Weatherfield disaster. Debbie says she'll put David and the gang up in the hotel and David over-plays it and orders some burgers too, telling Sarah they got away with it. For now, anyway.
Aadi (fortunately those first degree burns didn't reach his face) is suffering flashbacks from the accident and blaming Dev for rescuing Asha first. "He left me to die," he says, somewhat dramatically. Dev offers him the role of part time assistant of the entire Alahan business empire, which Aadi grudgingly accepts. I do hope Aadi isn't going to get his revenge by burning down the chippie, or something.
