Coronation Street weekly update – February 20, 2021

Corrie weekly updates from 1995
All the wit and warmth of Weatherfield
None of the waffle - and all for just 99p

We had not one but two visits to hospital this week. First off, Tyrone was taken in after suffering pains in his chest and thought he was having a heart attack. It turned out to be something less life-threatening but was enough to put Tyrone on a health kick and he started attending a yoga class.

Second visit to the Kate Oates memorial ward at Weatherfield General was after Kevin and Debbie were finally freed from the fridge in the Bistro after shivering there all night. It’s Abi who saved them and she’s that relieved Kev’s alive that she asks him to marry her, and he accepts. I’m right looking forward to this wedding. Abi is less happy with Debbie, who’d lied to her and told her Ray was dead. As for Ray, he gets arrested at the airport before he can jet off to his new life abroad.

Todd continues to inveigle (I love that word) his way into Billy’s life. Billy is an intelligent man, but still daft enough to believe Todd’s acting with the church’s best interests at heart when he offers to take some unwanted pews off Billy’s hands. He sells them for a small fortune and doesn’t tell Billy just how much profit he’s made. Meanwhile, poor Paul mopes around broken-hearted while Todd gets his feet under the vicar’s table with a view to snuggling under his duvet.

Edison Bailey’s brother Ronnie arrives this week. Ronnie turns up in a smart suit and flash car, drinks rum in the Rovers and is a cool dude. In short, he’s everything that Edison isn’t. Ronnie and Aggie appear to have history, and I don’t want to spoil anything, but there’s a certain familiarity to the way Ronnie looks at Michael that suggests Ronnie and Aggie once knew each other very well indeed back in the day.

Elsewhere this week, Simon struggles to cope with Leanne who’s still seeing feathers as a sign Oliver is trying to communicate from beyond the grave. It turns out that Simon is the one leaving the feathers, because he doesn’t know what else to do to make Leanne happy and hopes it’ll keep her away from phoning the phony psychic line and running up a huge bill. Peter’s out of detox and puts Simon on the back burner after promising he’d see him and so Simon turns to Jacob in his hour of need. Jacob, you’ll remember, is Simon’s new mate who’s working at the chippy but is really running drugs around town. Simon has resisted so far being drawn into Jacob’s gang but with Leanne the way she is and Peter, well, being Peter, Simon goes to Jacob and tells him he’s in.

And that’s just about that for this week.

I did think to myself, please not another "who's the daddy" storyline. Yawn. Was there a time in Corrie when new characters didn't have some dreadful secret when they arrived?

I reckon this'll turn out to be a double bluff- viewers will be given the impression Michael is Ronnie's son - but he'll be Eddie's.
I hope Emma doesn't come under his spell. This Ronnie seems like a serial womaniser!
I'd like to see Dee Dee arrive and clash with Grace.
Where has Simon got the bag of feathers from - a pillow? Why doesn't Lee-anne go to bereavement counselling?
Anyone notice Nick and Sam wearing the same jeans, jacket and trainers get up?
ahh- sweet.
