From the Sunday Express magazine:
Beverley Callard has spoken out after being left out of Coronation Street's 50th-anniversary episodes in 2010 by the show's producers and admitted it was a "big deal" for her to not be included in the special tribute.
Beverley was left disappointed after not being asked to appear in the show's 50-year anniversary episodes.
She said: “It was a big deal considering I'd been in the show for 20 years. I was deeply upset about that decision. I remember saying, ‘I’m the landlady of The Rovers. How can I not be in these episodes?’ But I wasn't. That's showbiz."
The Express magazine goes on to say that Beverley has now closed the door on Coronation Street to explore new opportunities including a potential show for her and husband Jon McEwan.

I am also disappointed, not just that she wasn't in the special episode (wasn't it the 60th?), but that her character didn't get a proper send off at all!
We will miss you Liz!
Never is a long time. I'm sure that's how she feels now, but I wouldn't be too shocked to see her return someday. She's been back and forth a lot over the years. Can't imagine they'd ever kill her, offscreen, it'd be too big a death to be used as a plot point to further something else (like they did for Katie, Ted, Sylvia, or Archie). Anyways, Bev Callard has been a brilliant part of Coronation Street for more than 30 years, and I hope (and think) we haven't seen the last of Liz.
In a way,Liz's abrupt exit to Spain while Steve was struggling with Oliver's terminal illness is fitting to the character as she's always been self -centered and selfish.
I mean when Oliver first got ill,Liz was more concerned with flirting with Scott than her grandson being ill.
