Coronation Street celebrates its 53rd anniversary today, December 9th 2013.
The very first episode of Corrie aired on December 9th, 1960.
Our blogger Barry (Sunny Jim) captured the first 50 years of Corrie in 50 blog posts, which were then turned into an online book by one of our readers - have a look at it here.
Happy anniversary, Coronation Street!

Happy birthday Corrie! And thanks for all the pleasure you give to millions of viewers!
Yes, Happy Birthday!
What a fantastic run!
People don't believe me when I say my favourite serial drama has been running for 53 years (or how young I was when I first started watching).
Long may you continue giving others pleasure.
