Corrie weekly awards for July 29 - August 2

Vicious Vegetable award: Gail really was making a meal out of that carrot. There must have been peelings on all the walls and the ceiling the way she was weilding that peeler.

Michelin Man award: Loved Steve's soliloquy and dilemma about biscuits.

Meddling award: Sophie had no business making a complaint and it shows  up her immaturity. She only made things worse.

Did I forget something award: Baby's coming home today after being in hospital for 2 months since he was born. Oh right. I suppose we better put together the baby furniture then. I'm a builder but I can't figure it out.

Nervous Nelly award: Gary instantly assumes he's to blame if the baby cries. Or wees. Or he doesn't know what the baby wants.

Do the math award: Though we didn't see him take it, David seems to have a spare 50 quid for the entertainment budget.

Mardy cow award: Sophie might be really, really sorry she called in on Paul, but she still rude to his face.

Word Processing award: David wrote an anonymous note. Centered on the page, in a nice large font, sans serif. I wonder if he spellechecked it too?

Is that the end of it award: Have Paul and Lloyd finally settled their differences? I hope so! But...

Local news fail: How on earth did Paul and Lloyd's scramble on the cobbles get into the newspaper? And why wasn't Paul incandescent with more resentment and rage about it?

Guilty complex award: Nick did fancy footwork to cover but his face had GUILT written all over it  and Leanne knows damn well it's true.

Revelation Award: Nick finally figured it out. David. David.

Lines of the week
Jason saying to Paul, 'You've been accused of being a racist then you go and smack a black guy. Sound!
Deirdre  to Rob about helping out "no more than she fancies passing insincerity off as charm"
Sean to Beth about the baby "You just bored him into submission"
Sophie "If I could take it back, I would" (Well, why can't you take it back?)
Eileen to Paul over breakfast "I see it's not just bridges you like burning"
Rob to Peter "You'll have about as much clout as a left hook from Emily Bishop"
Leanne "What's that scent you're wearing? Jealousy by Calvin Klein?"
Deirdre "I don't trust him as far as I could throw him. And if you'd seen me doing shot put at school, you'd know that's not very far"
Rob to Tracy about his friend "He *killed* someone!" Tracy "EVERYBODY MAKES MISTAKES!!!" (Does Rob know about Charlie Stubbs?)
Anna about Mary "Take no notice. The clock doesn't quite strike twelve"
Tracy to David "Why don't you go home and Google 'sarcasm'"
Peter "Hey, Rob, who's your mate?" Rob "One of me fan club" Peter "Oh, you found her did you?" (heh)

I thought there'd be a best Jim McDonald imitation award? Steve was brilliant! Steven, so you will.

Highlight of the week for me. :D

Just can't seem to grow up award: Leanne's continuous attempts to 'confront' someone always turn out to be her just picking a fight like she is in a schoolyard. Grow up love.

And on that note I think Peter's line to her was ace: "oh and Leanne, in case you've forgotten, Hayley's got cancer; so if you could try and no shove her about, it would be very much appreciated".

Carla: "what exactly is a 'thang ' on its own?
Peter: " well I don't know but this lot told me--"
Factory workers: "oh you pretty thang!"

Steve's impression of Jim...priceless!

Rob does know about Charlie. It wasn't that long ago that he and Tracy had a conversation about it and she reassured him that she's never killed anyone she liked.

What did Gail do with the fifty quid David gave her for the family meal - a joint of pork and a few veg wouldnt even be a tenner. No drinks or nibbles, they had to be provided by the guests. Is she senile?

There was an exchange between Rob and his probation officer:

Rob: "Define 'untoward.'"

Probation Officer: "I'm a happy civil-partnered lesbian, Rob"

or some such...

Isn't Gary getting even more annoying.

Loved Steve's impression of Big Jim and reference to Liz - highlight of the week for me too! So now the Grizzy are going to both work part- time and how convenient that both Carla and Owen can suddenly accommodate them - Hayley is off on holiday and didn't Gary just have to work Sat because Owen was so busy?

If Gary & Izzy are worried about money, wouldn't Gary earn more as a builder than Izzy would as a sewing machine operator, so it would make more sense for him to work full-time? Sometimes the plot lines are just too silly to go unnoticed!

Gary needs to go back into therapy for his PTSD (or whatever it's called now) if he can't handle his son's crying.
