The magazine has a photoshoot to highlight the awards that some of the Corrie cast members are up for in the Inside Soap Awards 2013.
Georgia May Foote, who plays Katy says this in the mag: "I'd like Katy to go off the rails because I've never played a character like that. Katy's friend Steph will be a regular so expect to see those two getting up to lots of mischief together."
Who's Steph? I hear you cry. Why, I answer, she's the cheeky one who fancied Ryan.
Corrie have even given Steph a surname - Britton, which is always a sign of the character sticking around for a bit. Steph Britton's played by actress Tisha Merry.

Oh snore, more screen time for the dullest young woman on TV...
It makes sense for Faye and Katy to have friends. The street has operated in a bubble for quite some time with nobody having friends other than the neighbours. Wait and see with them. But I still don't get why Dennis hasn't had a storyline. Assuming the actor's fit and able, Dennis should have had a major storyline by now. The Street needs a wide boy now that the Baldwins have gone, and Dennis would have made a brilliant job of it. Bring in new characters by all means but why are they not using the talent that's already there?
I wonder if this Steph will be the one Ryan leaves with to (what island was it?)
Devil's Island? Rikers? Alcatraz?
It seems tptb are again attempting to widen the ethnic circle, in as non-threatening a way as possible, since Mandy didn't work out. Transparent as it may be, good luck to them. I hope this time they've given more thought to their purpose for this effort and not just shoe-horned the characters in for the sake of "diversity".
Oh groan.... she was incredibly annoying the first time round. I seriously hope they tone her down a bit or the mute button will be used an awful lot in our house!

The dullest character around Katie is however blessed with good looks so the shallow loooks obsessed Powers That Be are suddenly giving her more story lines, not because of her acting skills, but because she can now replace Tina as sexiest actress and best looking soap star at the awards. Now we have to put up with katie going out and getting drunk and bedding half of Manchester along with her annoying little friend and Chesney pulling faces and moaning HO HUM.
How is the actress (Katy) supposed to show her chops when she's been paired up with the two most boring actors on the show paired with the dullest storylines imaginable? Maybe that's the way their characters are written but Chesney and Ryan could double as mannequins IMO.
