Weatherfield's crown court |
Being a Corrie obsessive I couldn't help but be slightly puzzled by this, since Weatherfield seems a fully independent town in itself. Over on my Weatherfield Recorder blog I put up several examples of this. Though I do think Jonathan knows his Corrie stuff, and I think we've probably got the wrong end of the stick. I have read that certain towns, such as Swinton are part of Salford and Greater Manchester, this is most likely where all the confusion is coming from, Salford itself is a city next to Manchester.

Salford is its own city, with a history at least as great as Manchester. Like Manchester, there are individual towns within Salford such as Eccles and,as you say, Swinton. The area where Corrie is based is Ordsall. The bigger area of Salford is relatively recent so there are a lot of towns incorporated into the larger City of Salford.
Salford folk are very proud of being Salfordians. They are fed up of being lumped in with Manchester.
Yay for Jonathon Harvey! There are more places up north than Manchester!
I think the confusion stems from Salford being part of Greater Manchester, people take that as meaning Manchester city rather than a huge area surrounding the city
