Ex-Coronation Street actor Davy Jones has died

This just in from the BBC.

Davy Jones, Manchester-born lead singer with 60s band The Monkees, has died aged 65, his publicist has confirmed. He died in his sleep at his home in Florida. His publicist, Deborah Robicheau, said he had a massive heart attack.

The band, who included musicians Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork, were famous for hits including Daydream Believer and I'm a Believer.

Early on in his showbusiness career Davy Jones appeared as Ena Sharples' grandson Colin Lomax in Coronation Street in 1961.

RIP Davy- a great talent both as part of the Monkees and in his acting roles.

I saw him perform in 2010 and decided to try and see if I could meet him after. He came over to the fans waiting, most had photos for him to sign. I had a Rover's beermat which I think surprised him. He said, 'blimey that takes me back many years.' He signed it though and was very nice. RIP Davy Jones

Really sorry to hear this, saw him on the telly not so long ago and thought how young he was looking. RIP.

Yes, I saw him recently in a documentary about boy bands - the Monkees being the very first manufactured boy band! He will be missed.

Davy Jones was a talented and gracious man - he is missed all over the world. For the record, Davy was taking care of his horses in Florida and didn't feel well. They rushed him to the hospital, but he passed away... He's riding his horses and singing his way in heaven!
