Craig Charles, who plays Lloyd Mulvaney on Coronation Street, was interviewed on ITV's This Morning, this morning.
He talks about the storyline with Lloyd, Cheryl and Chris's brain tumour, and his upcoming break from Corrie to film Red Dwarf, which he is clearly excited about.
And he says that Corrie was his mum's favourite telly programme and how much he wishes she could have seen him in it.

Lloyd is one of my favorite characters. He's a hard worker, responsible, the best friend anyone could ask for, has hobbies, and even makes time for other people's kids. Can't wait 'til he's rid of Cheryl and tears down that girly wallpaper. He's a catch and it's time they find a decent lady for him, (i.e., not Eva or Michelle). Stevie boy bromance is great, but he deserves more.
Lloyd has become such a doormat in the latest storyline. I was screaming at the telly last night - Cheryl is just sooooo tedious, I'm not one for violence but I'll make an exception in this case because she deserves a good slap, the mardy mare. Can't wait for her to leave, the sooner the better, and Lloyd will rediscover his old self stacked in the loft gathering dust along with his Northern Soul vinyl stash - a bit like a Red Dwarf plot really!
I was rather pleased that he gave her a telling off last night too
Chris and Cheryl are two of the most pointless characters ever. No-one would offer a home to someone who tried to frame them for burgulary, whatever the circumstances. A Saint would have thrown the moody, ungrateful, waste of space, Chris, out on the Street by now. This rubbish is just an insult to viewers. Why doesn't Lloyd just provide all 3 with a cab to the station and we can be rid of them for good.
I'm in agreement with AbbyK - Lloyd is someone you would be happy to have as a friend. He's just a nice guy, and unfortunately, nice guys do get advantage taken of them. I have always liked the character of Lloyd and will miss him while he's gone.
