In the latest poll here on the Coronation Street Blog we asked Corrie fans the question: How do you feel about Sophie and Sian splitting up?
The majority of you voted with "Not Bothered" at 61%, with those being "Gutted" at the split in the minority at 38% .
I know feelings about Sophie and Sian run very high on Sophie/Sian fan sites and if this question was asked there, there'd be a very different response, I'm sure. But here on the Coronation Street Blog, it's fair to say - Face? Bothered? No, not much.

Sophie and Sian have been boring for months
Who honestly says they are "gutted" that a soap couple are splitting up, very odd reaction. I myself couldnt give a flying fig, the pair of them are dull as dishwater, dont have any screen presence whatsoever. Compare them to Paula Lane who is about their age, very very poor indeed.
I couldn't care less about Sophie and Sian. They are generally dull, irritating and whiny characters with very little substance. Brooke and Sacha have been unable to convey the emotions and sincerity needed for the storyline.
they are both really dull as a couple and even duller when James is with them.
PS ignore the ignoramus who posted at 11.12
The risk of HIV is very low in lesbian relationships. (http://www.avert.org/lesbians-safe-sex.htm). The lack of knowledge about HIV shown by Anonymous #2 does indeed highlight the need for greater awareness of these issues.
As for Sophie and Sian, I am sorry they are splitting up but understand the motives behind Sascha Parkinson leaving. They are a nice young couple and have been identifiable role models for many young women. I hope that Sophie doesn't go off the rails though, and I'm not looking forward to the (contrived?) Amber storyline.
Oh Dolly dont you start about these two being "role models" had enough from Mr Collinson. Why on earth any teenager would want to aspire to either of these two is way beyond me, I mean, lazy, whiny, miserable, moaning, sense of entitlement, sponger, constant self pity. At their age they should be FUN but they are so not.
I liked the storyline of Sophie and Sian, unfortunately the demise of this story is down to the writers, it started so well, but in my view like all other soaps, a good storyline is started only to be cut short, because of ratings. Sacha Parkinson and Brooke Vincent haven't been given the storylines, to help develop their characters further. The writers haven't shown them having fun, going on dates etc... its all been doom and gloom Welcome to Soapland
When the storyline started it was believable and very good but once it got to after the tram crash they became boring and dull and clingy and Sophie always seems jealous of Sian even bieng friendly to other people but I personally think this is down to the writers because if you look at the past Scenes with Brooke playing Sophie 2004-Now you will see she is witty and does have acting talent but due to bad writing she has become boring and poor Sian seems to never go out the house unless Sophie is there I can't blame Sacha for leaving she must be bored of the same old same old and I believe she does not want to be seen as Sian for the rest of her life just like if William Roache played someone else he will always be seen as Ken Barlow.
Sorry if my explaining is bad but I struggle to explain things.
Sophie looks like she might actually be Kevin's daughter in real life. Are the two actors related in anyway?
I agree with Donice, this storyline started so well, but you are only as good as the material you have to work with. I think the writing on this storyline as been poor from the writers. Brooke Vincent and Sacha Parkinson have been given very little air time to develop these characters. The writers had the chance to let this relationship mature, but another storyline bought to an abrupt ending.
I don't feel anything about Sophie and Sian splitting up.
To me they're boring, whiny and without depth of character.
May be the writers' at fault may be the actors', either way, I won't miss Sian, or Sophie and Sian as a couple.
I think Brooke Vincent, though she seems disliked by this blog, is a more than capable actress, easily demonstrated by Sophie's coming out scenes with Kevin and Rosie. I hope they pair her with a more capable actress and give her more screentime. I also Sophie is a rather realistic - as far as soaps go - portrayal of a teenager: sometimes annoying, sometimes very likeable, insecure and sometimes very naive, but with a good herat. But I fear many on this blog have simply decided to dislike the character and the actress for whatever reason.
Flaming Nora, I am delighted to see that comment moderation has been disabled - has your reign finally come to an end? And to celebrate this fine occasion, have you decided to indulge in your favourite pasttime: bashing these two actresses and allowing homophobic comments on this blog? Lovely!!
I don't understand why Sacha would neccessarily completely leave. Sophie and Sian have been pushed so far into the background that other projects are proabaly possible in conjunction with her role.
The writers claimed "long term commitment to this couple", yet as soon as the ratings boost and shockwaves finished, they pushed them out of the show. All they got was that horrible James storyline(which is unfortunately just getting started here in Aus - yawn).
It is all about Steve/Tracey (two of my least favourites and the balance has gone from the show. It is bland and contrived at the moment. Same old schtick from the Barlows.
Amber is going to be a disaster of a storyline because the fans of Sophie and Sian will not accept it. I am not bothered either way, but the writer's ruined this storyline. I think most of us who watch the show would write better episodes than the formulaic rubbish on at the moment.
I don't understand the comment against Flaming Nora allowing homophobic comments, where? Just because people find two characters incredibly dull and couldn't care less if they split up or even leave the soap doesn't mean it's homophobia just because those two characters happen to be gay.
I love these two but I just feel like - as other have pointed out - they really havent been given much material. I know that Sophie has had quite a lot happening but Sian has basically only been there because of her relationship with Sophie. So don't blame Sacha for leaving.
However.. I bugs me the way they are doing it. But I guess its soapland.. cheating HAS to be involved. (snoooooze)
And, Brooke Vincent is a very talented actress in my opinion. She just haven't been given much to go with. Same goes for Sacha. I wouldn't be surprise if Brooke decides to leave next year. :)
Oh please Brooke leave next year! A couple of uninteresting teens that act like sullen moany old pensioners and dont aspire to any kind of career but price gunning in the corner shop, hardly role models for the young generation. No spirit or get up and go. Both of them need a sharp kick up the backside.
I love how people always seem to hate on Sophie because she's not a good role model for teens. Well, she's not particularly ambitious, but can you think of anyone on this street who is? And Sophie is harmless compared to Demon David, Tracy the murderer, Kylie the shrew and sledgehammer-waving Becky. Maybe we should look elsewhere for role-models?
And Frosty, your comments are getting old, can't you change the tune for once?
if they were to do more kissing and stuff then NO WAY!! They are suposed to be together for life
There best friends in real life, they've known each other since they were 6 years old. And Brooke can't even talk about Sacha leaving.
i don't want Sacha to leave, Siophie are awesome together. there perfect together. it's gonna be hard watching the leaving scene :(
i'm sorry but it's not their fault their dull it's the bloodly writers fault and if u watch Brooke And Sacha they r amazing actor so shut ur mouth coz u can't sayin positive bout dem & 2 b honest i cry every time i fink bout dem splittin up coz they hav helped me with so much & their storyline is epic so widout dem i don't could of made it through da past year but i'm sorry if u don't like dem but they hav helped me a thousand around da world so u should b proud it's gonna b though watch it though nowin dat they might never get back together
sophie and sian are amazing there not dull there not boring there truely a inspiration there saying its fien to be who you want to be you dont have to hide it. it will come out sooner or later and its better sooner, they havnt been on for a while as they've oviusly been busy and its leading up to the big story line so they have to have time of once in a while , its really sad sacha is leaving and corrie wont be the same the people who dont find them as intresting have there own opinion - its all in the eye of the beholder and we see things in different way me and my sisers personaly love them but thats our opinion i dont want to see sacha leae i love siophie <3 you will deeply be missed sacha p
I'm gutted to hear that Sophie and Sian are splitting up; whatever the haters say, I still find them adorable as a couple, and wish that people would stop bashing them. In my opnion, Brooke and Sasha are excellent actresses... but that's just my view. But please, people, be nice.
I understand why Sasha decided to leave, but it's still gutting for us Siophie fans after we were promised that the girls' relationship would be a long-term committment. And the idea of Sophie cheating on Sian emotionally or physically with anybody baffles me - not least with Amber. They're saying that Sian will leave Sophie at the altar when she 'finds out' about Sophie cheating on her... but Sophie didn't do anything! Amber just kissed her, once, and Sophie pushed her away. The idea of Sophie suddenly falling in love with Amber, expecially with Sian around and back from her holiday, just doesn't seem to make sense.
Ah, if only she'd been able to go on that holiday... ah well. Maybe Sian will return one day. Good luck Sasha on your future projects - you will be missed!
