Coronation Street at 60 - Virtual Manchester Tour

Now then, we've already blogged about a virtual Coronation Street tour by zoom to celebrate the show's 60th anniversary -
All details here.

And now there's another one arranged, too and this time it's by Sue McCarthy of Tour Manchester who says...

"Let us (virtually) lead you through the streets of Manchester; celebrating Coronation Street on it's 60th birthday. Coronation Street was first shown on our television screens 9th December 1960, at 7pm. Only 13 episodes were originally commissioned, such was Granada management's lack of faith in the idea. Exactly 60 years later, we will be taking a tour of Manchester to discover some of the people and places that have helped to shape one of Britan's favourite TV shows.

We can't organise real life tours at the moment, so let's explore from the comfort of our living rooms. Bonus: we won't be at the mercy of the Manchester rain . Did you know, the name Weatherfield was partly chosen because of Manchester's reputation for bad weather?

We will learn about the street in Salford which inspired Corrie, take a stroll to the famous Red Rec, see the canal which David Platt plunged into with his car, peep inside Billy's church, visit Weatherfield Registry Office... and much more.

A Zoom link for the event will be sent to all customers 24 hours before the tour. So grab yourself a brew, and we'll see you soon.

About your guide:
This tour will be led by Sue McCarthy, who has been an official Manchester Tour Guide for 11 years. Sue has led many Coronation Street themed tours for guests from all over the UK, and Canada.
