Goodbye Stella

So tonight we bid Stella Price farewell. I've never been a fan of the character and I've written at length about this on this very blog in the past. However I don't have anything against Michelle Collins and I wish her well for the future.

I never questioned acting abilities. My beef was always with the over-exposure of Stella from the off. She was railroaded into every scene going, holier than thou and sticking her beak in to matters that didn't concern her. The arrival of her horrid mother did nothing for the character although I'm glad daughter Eva is staying on.

The lowest point was Stella's involvement in Betty's exit storyline. It was just plain jarring on every level and did no favours to what should have been a wonderful tribute to 42 years of Corrie gold.

The Rovers Return is now much more watchable with the McDonalds in charge. Perhaps it could have worked out differently if Stella hadn't been forced down our gobs from the word go. Who knows?

Anyway, best of luck to both Stella and Michelle.

I think that everything to say has been said about this character. Brought in to be an 'icon' she has left as a turkey. That's what happens when producers cast their mates instead of who could be best for the role. Phil Collinson just made the character ridiculous. MC has another job to go to so goodbye and good luck!

Yeah, we have to suffer her on Casualty now.

We have Kal to stick his nose into everyone's business in every other scene now. :/

Badly written character. Actor is great but can only do so much with what direction they've been given. She could have been so much more but it was just nasty from the beginning. The carry-on with Jason was just enough to make me turn off whenever she was on screen. I won't miss this character. I'm not a fan of Liz either BTW. She's coming off like a love struck teenager, not someone who's been around the block as many times as she has. A

All of Corrie has changed. It's lost it's familiarity to us. Not the same show any longer. There was 6 of us who talked about the show all the time for years, and now, I am the only one watching any longer in our home.
Good luck to Michelle.

Besides the Betty fiasco, another silly moment was when she saved Leanne from a holdup at the bookies. Suddenly we had a superwoman on the street. It was cringe-inducing. Too much, too soon.

En route to Holby.

I very sadly agree with Diane LaPointe.
Sadly because I've watched this show my whole life, and it has changed so much in just about every way. It's a constant round of characters, way too many, with dizzying stories that in some cases last far too long or are resolved as if the writers got bored or ran out of credible ideas.
I suppose the show is now aimed at the newest generation of viewers which lets me out. I miss the the enjoyment I got from watching it.

I'm not going to miss Stella but I'd rather have her in the Rovers than the McDonald's. Good luck to Michelle for the future
