Jim McDonald is on his way back to Coronation Street. Charlie Lawson will reprise the role of Jim and he'll be back on our screens in June.
I did notice last night on Corrie that Jim's picture was prominent in the back room of the Rovers when Steve and Andrea were doing their history course work. It's not a picture we've seen before in the back room, or if we have, then not for a very long time. Clearly they've started signposting Jim's return already.
The official Coronation Street website reports today that: "Full storyline details are top secret, but we can exclusively reveal that Jim will still be serving time for armed robbery and that we're set to see more of his life behind bars.
How Jim's return will affect son Steve and ex-wife Liz is still under wraps, but it's safe to say that whenever Jim's around things tend to get a lot more complicated for the McDonalds.
Charlie will begin filming in June and will return to screens later this year."

Hurrah - Big Jim is back from the Big Hoose! Lets now get rid of Owen and the Windbag family - we have had our fill of them now Please Mr Producer Sir!!
Oh yes great! Love good old Jim! Watch yourself Steven!
Very pleased about this!
Great news so it is!
YES!! I have a sneaking suspicion that means someone else will be going to jail and we'll see Jim at the same time. Hmmmmmmmmmm Gary? Owen? Peter?
Here we go again...oh well, it's bound to be better than Kevin Webster's return...
Yeah! Should be fun as long as the writers don't try to pair him and Liz up again!
I think Jim's done more time for the robbery than he did for killing Jez.
My favourite character returns! SheShe very happy.
Oh geeeez, so we're gonna have two old dogs (Tony & Jim) sniffing around the equally old bitch in heat?? Here we go again. Same old crap, re-heated.
Hurrah! Return of Big Jim perhaps he could bring back Steve's backbone and throw Michelle the "wee girl" who castrated his lad out on her well padded rear!
oooh anon 14:05 you have a point.... Otherwise nooooooooo!!!
he just reminds me too much of my ex! No escapism for me, lol!
Yay! Love to see Liz and Jim together again.
I remember years ago when Karen was with Steve and she was so hateful regarding Jim who was in jail. I could not understand as Jim was there because he beat up Jez Quigley who was after nearly killing Steve and surely would have tried again if given the chance. Becky seemed alright with him.
As long as they don't bring him back as a blubbering whining weak wimp I am all for it. I actually enjoyed his 2011 stint (apart from the stupid bank robbery) it would be good having a strong male landlord in the Rovers, maybe he can teach Steve to stop being a spineless wimp.
*Excellent news* - always has been one of my favourite characters...great news!
Well said! Could not agree more, could I not! :-)
YAY. I am so happy my 'Corrie boyfriend' is coming back
I must have been on another planet - missed this completely until just now - Apr 25. HURRAH!! So glad he is coming back and hopefully for a long time!
Poor old Jim went to jail for robbing a bank to buy. Liz the Rovers. Now Jim's in jail and Liz is back in the Rovers anyway!
