There's an interview in the Mirror today with Malcom Hebden who plays Norris Cole. You wouldn't think he would cause too many hearts to flutter but apparently he received a letter once from a man requesting a topless photo of him! Malcom also says that for some reason, children seem to be quite fond of Norris. That's a bit baffling since Norris is usually vile to children in the Kabin and has very little time for them.
Malcom came to acting a bit later in life but has directed a lot of theatre as well. He appeared on Coronation Street in the 1980s as a Spaniard who lusted after Mavis Riley and Norris Cole, the character, was created as a pal for Derek Wilton in the 1990s. When Derek died in 1997, Norris left the Street but was brought back in 1999. He's been part of the fixtures and fittings in the Kabin ever since. Now that the Kabin is about to be wrecked under the tram, Malcom does not know whether Norris survives or not and he's not too keen to find out. Apparently, you can go ask the producer who will tell you but he hasn't done that. Time will tell whether Norris emerges from the wreckage but if the crash happens at night, which I suspect since they are doing much of the filming at night, then chances are good that Norris won't be on the property since he lives at Number 3. Who else is going is still up for speculation.

I love Nozza. He always seems to be in the right place and at the right time for a bit of gossip. Sometimes in the background cleaning outside the shop or right up close. If ever there was a male equivalent of Blanche then Norris is it.
They just CANT kill off Norris, he brings a bit of sarky humour to the programme.
I love Norris - he's a fixture and fitting - surely he can't get killed off.
If Norris was going, Malcolm would definitely know by now, and no, I don't think he will be one of them.
We know it is three deaths right? My guess would be Molly, Nick and if the rumours are true that Kev & Sally end up with baby Jack, it's possible Tyrone goes under the tram too.
Maybe they will save the Kevin/Molly story coming out until Jack starts to look the spitting image of Kevin! ;-)
bbhilda, if Molly gets killed, i reckon Tyrone finds out that the baby is Kevin's and lets them have him. I fear we may lose Tyrone, not necessarily under the tram but leaving Weatherfield altogether once the truth comes out. Or.... Tyrone could be injured in hospital which is how Kevin and Sally end up with the baby.
I cant see how Tyrone can carry on in the Street after the awful truth is revealed and surely he would have bonded with the baby and wouldnt be so heartless as to dump him on Sally and Kevin? I think Tyrone is a good character but has been "dumbed down" of late and written in as a doltish fool.
actually, norris started before the 80's - carlos the spanish immigrant - was around from 1974-75. norris really is an old-timer!
