Ahh 10th November. All I saw was Wednesday :P

I'm interested why they say Jack was in it for 31 years as he was in it very briefly in late 1979, but not in it at all in 1980!
1980, the missing year... mind you, I'm flamin' nit-pickin' me!
So sorry to see him go. And such a sad storyline.
In fact anon, I was reading that he wasn't actually given a contract by Granada until as late as 1983 when he and Vera moved into number 9 Coronation Street.
Prior to this, he was still working as a singer in the clubs and just popped in and out as Jack on a 'casual basis' as and when he was needed.
That's quite right. Bill Tarmey's long-term contract was well covered by tabloid newspapers in 1983 - and he was delighted by it. It happened in the wake of the '83 "Vince St Clair" story-line.
ahhh i loved the vera ending it was so right for Jacks departure. i cried and cried with joy and sadness .
