Dev's Uncle Umed first appeared on Coronation Street on Monday 9 March 2009 - but where have you seen the actor who plays him before? The actor is Harish Patel who starred in the movie Run Fatboy Run. He's also appeared in loads of Bollywood productions, there's a full list here and will be starring in a new comedy film this year called 7 to the Palace. Couldn't help laughing upon first clapping eyes on Des's uncle Umed from Mombai - he's the spit of the cartoon character Peter (Grffin), from the series, The Family Guy, don't you think?

Has Dev's Uncle Umed outstayed his Visitor's Visa and will the Immigration Service soon be chasing him, especially as he is also working (illegally?) in the Corner Shop !!!
Umed's exaggerated hand gestures and facial expressions are fine in a Bollywood production, but in Corrie they just look silly ....
