So you want to write a Coronation Street script?

Fancy having a go at writing your own script for TV? Perhaps even a script good enough to submit to Coronation Street? Then you need to attend the Royal Television Society event on April 1st. No, it's not an April Fool.

TV scriptwriter Tony Jordan (he used to write for EastEnders and now writes Moving Wallpaper) will be probed by Guardian TV critic Gareth McLean and that's worth a tenner of anyone's cash. Full details are available here.

This picture comes from a script that's up for sale on eBay gum.

The episodes of Coronation Street of late are an insult to all our intelligence!!!! We the public are not impressed. Please change the story line or we and many others will not be watching any longer. Get rid of the crying face of Joe and David is too evil to watch, it is stupiddddddd!!!

You will be losing many viewers.

Can i just say what a disappointment the lastest story line has been. Our understanding was that 4 major characters were to die in the crash or aftermath we then find out that an extra was to be number 4 to die ??? why?? was that not an insult to our intelligence keeping us on our seats wondering who number 4 was and then to top it all of poor ashleys funeral was all of 3 mins long you could of done better do you not think us as a nation would like to mourn a character as good as ashley come on corrie you can do better show us more emotion.

Having watched Coronation Street for many years I am horrified at what it has become, which, in short, is dire! The whole thing is losing the individuality which made it so watchable and merging with the ridiculous goings on that make other soaps complete dross. The new family (I don't even recall their name) are a complete washout. Isn't there some feisty northern actress to run the bar? Michelle Collins, while O.K. in other roles just doesn't fit the bill and the rest of the family are equally forgettable. Before its too late I implore the script writers to bring back the the magic that made Coronation Street unique. We want something that we can identify with.
I do think the programme is likely to lose the vast majority of it's viewers if things don't improve.
