Piers Morgan 'honoured' to appear on Corrie

In his Daily Mail column, journalist Piers Morgan says that he was honoured to appear on Coronation Street. 'Eh?' I thought, wondering if I'd blinked and missed him walking into the Rovers to order a hot pot. But it's a bit more subtle than that.

He refers to Julie Carp in Underworld telling the factory girls: 'I've just had a premonition. Last time I had one o' them was the day Piers Morgan was sacked. I saw him steaming mangetout in a lean-to. And I thought, fare thee well, Fleet Street. It's a gift.'

Piers says there are simply no words to describe how honoured he feels and that nothing has brought such a profound sense of excitement, fulfilment and pride as finally appearing in a Coronation Street script. So there you go.

Yup, mangetout is French for 'eat everything' i.e. peas and the skin.
