After being attacked last week in the Bistro, Adam spends the week in hospital as the cops get suspicious about what’s going on. It’s all a bit mysterious and everyone is under suspicion but we fans know it was Simon Barlow (I’m guessing here) who attacked Adam as he was protecting Peter. Carla leaves the pub this week after falling out with Peter who refuses to stop drinking.
Now then, cast your mind back to a long time ago. Remember nasty Rick Neelan who Gary killed and buried in the woods? Well, it looks like that storyline is going to resurface, along with Rick’s body, just in time for Christmas next week.
Elsewhere this week, toady Todd is out to win Billy back by means fair or foul, mainly foul. And as this is Todd we’re talking about; his method is very foul indeed. He wheedles his way into Billy and Paul’s flat when Billy is out, and Paul gives him the keys so that Todd can take a shower. Enter Billy and yes, you’re ahead of me, Todd walks into the room with his shirt side open and his chest on display, trying to tempt the vicar. However, worse is to come.
Todd sees how proud Billy is of Paul for working at the victim support helpline and decides he wants to volunteer there too. But he’s only doing it to get in Billy’s good books and while he’s there, he finds out that Paul has given his own phone number to one of the boys who rings into the helpline. This is something that Paul should never have done and could get him sacked from the helpline, but he’s done it out of the goodness of his heart, recognizing himself in the youngster who’s being abused. However, what we find out later is that Todd and the youngster, Will, are working in cahoots to wind Paul up. It’s official, Todd is the new toxic Tracy Barlow.
Meanwhile, as Yasmeen adjusts to life back on the street, Tim asks his mum Elaine to move in with them, but she sensibly declines and tells Tim they need to take things slowly to build up their relationship.
Ray’s evil plan to bulldoze the street has been put on hold while Debbie wavers between doing the right thing (do it, Debbie, do it!) and going against Ray or doing the wrong thing (boo!) and helping Ray get what he wants. Now that Faye’s not having anything to with Ray, she and Tim go into business together window cleaning as Metcalfe and Daughter. Faye hasn’t told anyone yet the reason why she left the Bistro and just how evil Ray is.
And finally, this week, Jenny’s step-daughter Daisy returns and makes a play for David Platt.

Todd is just weird. How is this character in any way relatable? His behaviour strains credibility at every turn. The writers realised this in the case of Tracey Barlow, and seem too have reined her in since pairing her up with Steve, but seem to have created another character without any redeeming features because his ‘manipulations’ make for interesting plotlines. If they want us to believe that characters like Billy would take to a person, they need to demonstrate some element of likability, just as they tried to do with Geoff Metcalfe. As things stand, he’s just a turn-off.
Ya but so was Geoff and they went ahead.
