Hello and welcome to 60th anniversary week! I feel, in the northern vernacular, quite chuffed to be recapping one of the episodes. Of course, the 60th Corriversary is actually tomorrow, but Tuesday is a non-existent day on the street - everyone just stays in bed - so today is the start of all the drama. Without further ado:
Imran starts off practising his closing arguments, which coincidentally covers the other storylines taking place, Leanne feeling unsupported by Nick, Carla's betrayal of Peter, Ray's inveigling his way into the street in order to destroy it. In the courtroom, Judge Grinder recalls Geoff to the witness stand as Imran shows the CCTV from the hospital and particularly the mental health ward. Geoff denies that the facially disguised man was him but Imran has another ace up his sleeve, footage of Geoff leaving his car half a mile from the hospital and masking up. Imran accuses Geoff of taking a strong woman and breaking her, to which Geoff replies: "She thought she was something, but she was nothing from the off, she was useless!" and whilst Imran has boiled his frog, Geoff has cooked his goose. The jury of course returns a not guilty verdict and Geoff storms out of the courtroom whilst Alya sobs and Yasmeen is thunderstruck. Geoff still doesn't get it though, telling Yasmeen she's coming home with him and hurry up he's on a meter. Yasmeen says she'll never be free, and so she approaches the police to make a complaint against him, but Geoff is already plotting his next move - to Cyprus with Christine.
Imran has never looked hotter during his evisceration of Ghastly Geoff. so here's a gratuitous pic of him.
Meanwhile, Dev unwittingly lets Daniel know that it was Adam who was Carla's mystery man after Dev claims Adam still owes him money from the time he lost his wallet. Daniel starts investigating, asking Sarah about the hotel she and Adam stayed at and (off-screen) asks the cleaner at the hotel who came to pick it up. As an aside, why doesn't Sarah get Gail a subscription to Hiya! or Chit Chat magazine?
Peter turns up at the factory to check up on Carla, but having been persuaded to choose happiness by Leanne, he gets down on one knee (careful Peter, you're 55 years old! You may never get up again) and proposes to Mrs C. He suggests they get married and honeymoon in a villa in Kefalonia (Peter, you're in Tier 3!) Daniel confronts his soon to be sister in law and tells her she can't marry his step-brother, having cheated on him with his nephew (see, Gail could read all about this in Chit Chat).
