State of the Street - March 2014
March has come and gone and there are very few happy families on Coronation Street. The Windass clan is breaking apart at the seams after Gary's rash violent outbreak causing Phelan to hoist them by their own petard.
Peter's in a pickle balancing a demanding, possibly pregnant mistress and a pregnant wife. Maria's in bits because her fella took the other bus and left her stranded. Stella's leaving town and probably won't be missed by most fans.
Thoughts on this and more on State of the Street for March.

Frosty thinks Corrie is pretty good at the moment - Peter's come uppance and downfall - brilliantly played as ever by Chris Gasgoyne. Bully Boy Owen and his out of control sidekick with the bully becoming the bullied. Phelan is portrayed excellently and is very credible as the softly spoken baddun. There is some rubbish like Spoilt Brat Sophie and Maddar and look here is Kal again!!!! but pretty good on the whole.
I've long thought a Carla pregnancy storyline could be interesting - seeing how this so unmaternal woman would cope and what changes it would make in her. What I certainly didn't want to see was this thread played out as a gratuitous sideshow to the repellent Peter/Tina affair. Once again, Corrie chucks up the chance for authentic human drama for the sake of sensationalism.
Like Frosty - little ray of sunshine this morning, btw, Frost! - I'm enjoying seeing Owen neutered by the wonderfully repellent Phelan (although really not looking forward to Anna's great Act of Self-Sacrifice, all in the name of a Fiddler on the Roof ticket).
Also I'm really liking Tim now. Always said Joe Dutine was a first rate actor and they were utterly wasting him, but teaming him with Sally was exactly the dynamic they were searching for. Pity he has to be dragged back into the AW's orbit to pay for charmless Fay(e)s trip.
Fay(y)'s
Did Tina's mum die? Never a mention of her in years.
I think Tim knows Maddie from somewhere else. Maybe they're a pair of cons going after Sally's $$.
Once again, you've hit the mark. All of them. I think non-maternal Carla's pregnancy (and hopefully dealing with a newborn) are the character stories that we love. Oh please please please writers, do it right. If you don't get it, ask you mum. Mom. Whatever!
Grrrrrrrr, why oh why do we have to deal with that horrid affair? Tina, already Simon's minder and holder of Carla's esteem, would have been a natural for the mother's helper job. Instead of a forced, unbelievable tryst, we could have been treated to Tina's apprehension and regret for her aborted baby and the one she carried for Izzy, eventually causing her to leave. And more loss for Carla. MK is talented enough to carry it off. **sigh**
Rob is coming into his own. Like him so much more as a brother than as Tracy's other half.
Cannot say it enough, Carla just needs to get rid of and move on. Her kid, her husband, her sill undies business. Just give her a life make-over and be done with it!
I really like the idea of Tim and Maddie having some sort of past; falling for a great con is definitely up Sophie and Sally's alley.
