Emma and Curtis are engaged!
As a long-term Corrie viewer, a warm glow should have wrapped around my heart. An attractive, young couple, so in love – ahh! But that warm glow didn't develop. Because I have a strong suspicion that hard- working medical student Curtis is not all he seems to be...
For a start, is he really a medical student? He likes to avoid nurse Aggie – either on the street or on his frequent rushed visits to hospital.
Ah yes - his frequent visits to A&E...
There was one last night where he was apparently sent packing with a packet of paracetamol when suffering with severe chest pains.
I'm no expert, but I would have thought he'd be given an ECG or an x- ray, or at least an overnight stay for observation. Remember his last A&E panicked rush? He didn't wait for a doctor to examine him – the patient simply discharged himself, claiming they wouldn't be able to diagnose his illness correctly. Strangely, Emma accepted this.
Curtis has blown hot and cold with Emma (He can be quite offhand and dismissive with her, too) plus, she's often found it hard to contact him. He's said sorry for being AWOL, and given her the weakest of excuses to explain it, but those rose- tinted glasses mean she can't see things realistically. Well, the relief must be immense - her fella wants make up instead of break up! So it's a roller-coaster of emotions for her.
Now, Emma's lovely - but she's a people pleaser. The means she has an overwhelming desire to help him and gain his approval, and she has become more worried as time's passed.
Perhaps I'm being cynical - Curtis could genuinely have an undiagnosed life- threatening, heart- related illness. If so, I hope he manages to find the correct diagnoses and treatment.
He takes his medication daily (well, he seems to); he collapses a lot without warning and there's a scar on his chest. But scars can be faked.
He works at the Bistro, so why aren't Debbie, Leanne and Nick more concerned?
Here's the background bit...
Emma met her fiance when he was in a marathon with Steve, to help raise funds for children with Oliver's illness. The fund- raising has had quite a bit of media coverage, hasn't it? People have been generous - there's a lot of money here. We're talking thousands. A teary, desperate Emma has already asked her dad to take money out, in order to pay for Curtis's private tests – but wisely, he's gently refused. The plot's very vague - but we know the money is still about.
And on that final note, I'll just leave that thought there....

Hmmm....I haven't given Curtis much thought, but you seem to have put all the pieces together.
I hope this isn't a 2+2=6 conclusion, but there are definitely some red flags, as you have pointed out.
I totally agree with you. Maybe a bit of a vivid imagination? All assumptions.
Emma and Curtis engaged ? Did I blink at some point and miss that ?
Let’s face the pills could be anything, vitamins for example . I thought Curtis’s illness had already been diagnosed didn’t he tell Emma the name of it when he had to admit to her that he has a heart condition
Oh definitely Saint. I think you're so far wide of the mark on this with your suppositions
Oh it's so obvious now you say! That's a plot twist worthy of Game of Thrones, well done for putting the pieces together!
I love the idea of Curtis not being all he seems and from now on, I'll be watching him like a hawk!!
Jeanie (anon): I think they brought him in as a genuine good guy but now they've decided this is the story line they're going to give him (scammer). So suddenly these hints and the more over-the-top behavior: him making a big show of trying to hide the hair that's fallen out but then reluctantly showing it to her; him melodramatically emphasizing that he could lose his medical spot if they find out he could die at any moment etc. Suddenly the illness has become an over the top performance.
If the scar is fake, surely it would need replacing/redoing every so often? He can't keep the same one forever, surely? Emma would notice the difference at point? He can't keep it the same each time he "replaces it" can he?
Yes! The last paragraph is spot on - definitely some sort of con brewing, I'm sure of it!
Thank you for saying what I've been thinking for quite some time now! Poor sweet Emma would be devastated, but, it might give Tracy something to do. I'm keeping my eye on him.
Maybe he is a medication seeker, people who go to the doctor in emergency to try for drugs(OXY and such) and the medical folks have caught on to him, thus not wanting to wait or talk to them.
