Corrie producer Stuart Blackburn has confirmed that Stella won't be killed off, leaving the door open for the character to return to Corrie one day.
Stuart said this about Stella's leaving storyline: “It’s all
tied up in a big story involving Leanne. But it’s a quiet exit for
Stella because we’ve got so many massive ones coming up. She’s trying to
do the right thing by her daughter and she realises that perhaps her
absence might help Leanne.
“Stella is also looking at her mum Gloria’s lust for life and thinking to herself, ‘I’m not dead yet. I’m only 50. There’s a whole world out there'. Hopefully, her departure will be gentle, moving, truthful and one which leaves the door open.”

Loudly in, quietly out. I do wish the actress Michelle Collins well. Am relieved the character is leaving. As we know from previously exited characters, leaving the door open doesn't necessarily mean they come back in.
I didn't mind the idea of Dev and Stella having a relationship.

MC has massive movies lined up as well as a stint with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
She was alright in my books. It's not her fault she was shoved into our faces from the get-go, but there you have it. Oh well...NEXT!!
The publicity machine has got a lot to answer for. Quite early on, MC said on a chat show: 'I think Stella seems to be a bit like the Mother Teresa of Corrie'. I'm sure she didn't dream that one up herself but if anything's going to get up your nose, that is! If you're parachuted in as the Rovers landlady, you have to be seen to show a bit of gratitude and humility.
The book sounds fascinating:) But I think I'll wait for ITV to release the DVD box set "Coronation Street: The Beige Years".
Please don't say she's given the black taxi exit reserved for legends......!
Unless she's chased from the Street by an angry mob wielding burning torches and brandishing pitch forks, it will not be a truthful exit!
I wish the actor well, but I'm also glad to see the back of Stella.
@Tvor - I'm with you. Glad she's got work lined up at TRSF... but good riddance from "Corrie!"
I wouldn't have minded a Stella/Dev relationship - they're age-appropriate, business owners, with bitchy daughters. But that ship sailed LONG ago and Stella's character went down some hideous blind alleys instead.
Did always like her costumes, though, despite all the beige! ;-)
