Barbara Knox was interviewed live tonight on Paul O'Grady's TV show. Viewers in the UK who missed this wonderful interview will be able to catch up and watch it at the Paul O'Grady website in due course.
It really was a wonderful interview, quite marvellous. Barbara has played Rita on Coronation Street - on and off - since first appearing in 1964 as an old friend of Dennis Tanner.
Anyway, Paul O'Grady surprised Barbara by revealing that over 2,000 people had signed an online petition to have her album "On the Street Where I Live" transferred to CD. If you'd like to sign the online petition, it's here.
Also, have a look at the Barbara Knox fan website.

I thought Barbara was charming and nothing like I thought she would be, i.e. a rather affected luvvie. She was humble and sweet and I loved the story about her mum's hat! Its hard to believe she is 78 as well, she looks fantabulous.
Yes, she came across as very pleasant and I liked that she acknowledged the audience throughout her interview.
Did anyone catch Mary & Norris on the Alan Titchmarsh show earlier in the evening?
It was great to see Rita, loved the interview, interesting - would love to hear more from her. I bet she's got loads of good tales to tell. She looks wonderful as well.
Barbara was just wonderful, and she moves like a dancer still!! Yes, Garden Pixie, the story of her hat was very moving and modestly told -- seems she has/had a very good and supportive family. She was so great deflecting O'Grady's digs for the upcoming story-lines. She told about how the cast are so recognizable it's difficult to have privacy and quiet -- I think some of the young cast members could do well to learn graciousness and respect from her.
She was so wonderful, gracious, and so appreciative of the fans! I really enjoyed seeing her!
Barbara is a true srar , and a very beautiful lady .
