There's a long interview with William Roache in a Nottingham newspaper site today. Much of it is similar to the things he's spoken about in the past, but he also enthuses about the upcoming tram crash storylines, saying all the cast are looking forward to it. They've all been working nights and catching up on sleep in the daytime. The relevance to Nottingham comes from seven months when he worked out of the rep company there before Coronation Street where he met and became friends with Brian Blessed.
Speaking about Coronation Street in the present day, he's quite glad his character has a dysfunctional family as it makes things more interesting. He's also hoping he gets to do more work with his sons, who play his long lost son and grandson on Corrie. Bill has been in the media a lot lately, not just to plug his new autobiography, but also because he's now the Guinness record holder for the person still playing the same character for the longest time.

Yeah, but I bet only by those who know the screen deaths don't signify the death of their own lucrative contracts with Coronation Street.
