Sean Bean once expressed his desire to have a small role on Corrie and he's come out again with a plea for Corrie to get him signed up.
In the Express today, the actor says: “Yes, I would really like to appear in Coronation Street, it’s my favourite soap. Maybe not for a long run but I would still love to be in it. But they haven’t contacted me or my agent about it, so it’s over to them.”
I reckon he'd be a great addition. He's dishy eye-candy for the ladies, a cracking actor for the thesps and a bloke's bloke for the blokes, so something for everyone to enjoy, methinks. How about as a new fella for Eileen?

Sorry, but I just can't deal with famous actors coming into the Street.
Soap opera is a particular television entity which thrives on little-known or new actors coming along, making a character their own and staying for years to bring a sense of realism to the show.
This trend for employing famous actors started with Barbara Windsor on EE and has just escalated...
Norman Wisdom, Ian McKellen, Keith Duffy, Kym Marsh, Craig Charles... even Noddy Holder fer gawds sake!
It jars with me. It reminds me that it's "Britains Best Loved Soap", and that actors and zelebs are falling over themselves to get the kind of fame that only comes from a weekly soap opera.
Stick to Sharpe and other daft things, Sean.
Nah, I say give him a chance. I just wish Corrie had had the foresight to sign up pauline quirke instead of letting her go to emmerdale!
Flaming Nora, wash your mouth out, Hazel is a loud mouth Londoner that would be at home in EE, certainly NOT in Corrie! Although I like the odd cameo with a famous actor - how times have changed since thesps wouldnt be seen dead in a downmarket soap - i agree that long term characters should be given to struggling unknowns to give them a chance instead of famous faces.
I don't mind famous actors coming in, if they are in keeping with the show. Barbara Windsor was a career Eastender. You almost expected to see her proping up the bar of the Vic, before she joined that show.
But Ian McKellen, Keith Duffy, Craig Charles, Nigel Havers etc do not fit with the show. Why on earth should someone like Kieron end up in Coronation Street?
Much as I have never liked Kym Marsh, she does at least have the right background and accent for the show.
It would be nice if the producers stopped going for short term rating boosts by devices like bringing in established stars for cameos. I hope the Corrie staff do not contact Sean Bean.
Fantastic idea, sean bean is so dishy. To see him on the street would be a brilliant. It's a lifetime dream of mine to appear on the street, it would be a shame to deny his wishes.
Oh, please, please pretty please! And yes, a man for Eileen!!!

Oh I would LOVE Sean Bean to appear on the Street - really hope they do contact him.
In general, I'm against seeing these brand name stars do "walk-on" roles unless there's a meaty storyline with something of consequence happening to the Cobbles fictional universe or to an established Cobbles character...
I don't understand why someone wouldn't think Craig Charles doesn't fit on Corrie. He's perfect as Lloyd and is one of my favourite characters. It can't be his Liverpool accent can it? Eddie Yeats was a resident Scouser for years! Ian McKellen's short stint as the scamming writer was brilliant! A quick one scene cameo isn't such a bad thing but for a part, an actor has to fit the part and the part has to fit Corrie.
Craig Charles is great in Corrie. Lloyd's one of my favourites too.
> Eddie Yeats was a resident Scouser for years!
And much more recently there was an entire family of Scousers, the Mortons, living on Coronation Street. Why on earth should anybody's accent or background mean they don't fit in on Corrie?
I would LOVE to see Sean Bean on the Street - he's so dishy and an excellent actor too.
But as a new fella for Eileen? Please God no, he's WAAAAY to good for her!
Sean Bean wants to join Corrie. Makes a change from Snoop Dogg (whatever that is !!)
Each week there seems to be somebody famous wanting a cameo role in Corrie.
Please form an orderly queue after me! I would make a great extra ordering a half a shandy in the Rovers!!!!
Oo, *wibble*. SB is my fave and one of the most underrated actors this country has.
Not sure Corrie is for him long term, but if it means him getting away from Hollywood where he's always being cast as the villain/getting bumped off in his films, then I'm all for it. As long as he sticks to his lovely natural accent.
Oh, I've come over all unnecessary.
I'm still not over the death of Boromir! I also agree re. Craig Charles being great on Corrie.
I wouldn't say no to Sean Bean... under any circumstances ;)
