There's an excellent interview with Alison King, who plays Coronation Street's Carla Connor, in The Sunday Mirror. Alison talks about the upcoming siege on the Street and the explosion in the knicker factory, which kills off two Corrie characters. Read the full interview here.
Now that the story about the fire at the factory is out in the public domain and the Mirror has pictures of the factory up in flames, I feel it safe to blog this picture below I took on our visit to the Street set last weeked. It was a shock to see Underworld in such a state, but here it is, fire-damaged and boarded up. Looks like there's some great, explosive scenes to come in Coronation Street.

I cant find the pictures :(
I thikn the pics are only in the paper. I'm sure the official site will have some behind the scenes stuff online soon though.
Ah okay :) thanks, great picture by the way :D
The two Corrie characters who die are probably Tony Gordon and his prison-break accomplice.
Yes, that's the way for an evil Tony Gordon to go out... perhaps with both Carla and Maria crying...or I wouldn't mind if this was Maria's exit as well. Tony takes her hostage because he wants to exit with a woman who did at one time "honestly" loved him -- unlike evil blackbird Carla who pretended to...
now that would be an exit worth remembering on the street!
That's my guess, Anonymous.
I have a couple of boarded up pics too plus one of the sign looking charred!
Corr it sounds so exciting. I can't wait. I reckon it's Tony and his accomplice that'll die although i wish it was Tony and Maria as she's bloomin' dull!
Wow, the media often report of storylines being explosive, and it looks like this one actually will be!
I think Tony and his friend will die. Hoped it might have been Carla, as I think she is a bit of a pointless character now.
After all the hype and build up it will be Tony and his henchman that will be killed. Why do they trumpet these things in, only for them to turn into a damp squib? Its pretty obvious as there has been no fresh news of new axings that it will not be any of the regular characters.
I personally would like Maria to go as she hasnt been missed and I find the character whiney and annoying.

Oh don't come back Maria...
Eileen can leave the street as well.
Fresh stories needed for characters with potential: Janice, Izzy, Kirk, Fiz...
Hmmmm. I fear the phrase "explosion in the knicker factory" may give rise to some unrealistic expectations.......
