Katy Cavanagh graduates from Open University

Corrie's Katy Cavanagh, who plays Julie Carp, has graduated as a mature student with the Open University with a 2:1 degree in philosophy and English.

The mother of two, who splits her time between Manchester and London, embarked on the degree course eight years ago, but took two years out due to child commitments and had to juggle her TV work.

Her mum, Anne Collins, said: “She has done very well, having got into RADA and with her TV work, but I am most proud of this because of her focus and concentration."
