The Sun has reported that Julie Goodyear who played Bet Lynch, wants to return for Betty's funeral when it takes place. It will most likely be for one or two episodes only, but it'd be fitting as the pair served behind the bar together for many, many years.
I think it'd be great to have as many people as Betty knew to be back for her in-show funeral, not only would it feel more realistic to have so many of Betty's good friends back on the show, it'd be a great dedication to Betty Driver to have so many people return to the show to wish her character farewell.

A flying visit would be apt and good to see her, so long as Julie doesnt mistakenly think she can upstage everyone as she did last time.
Wouldn't it be great if they could get Betty's sister Maggie Clegg Cooke (Irene Sutcliffe) back from Zaire? She hasn't been seen since 1975, although she was mentioned about 10 years ago in an episode writen by Daran Little. Hopefully son Gordon will also appear - two different actors have played him.
Be nice if Bill Kenwright reprised his role as Gordon (no disprespect to Geoffrey Leesley intended).
It would be great to have Bet back for a couple of episodes, and I'd be surprised if Bill Kenwright doesn;t appear, given his huge affection for his 'second mum'. I believe Irene Sutcliffe is very elderly now, so wouldn't expect to see her. A reapearance by Hilda would be lovely, but unlikely.
I'd love to see Bet and as many of the ex-cast members as possible. I'm pretty sure Bill Kenwright will make the time to appear if they ask him. He kept up a personal relationship with Betty Driver for all these years.
You've got to be kidding, Julie Goodyear back for any reason would be a disaster.
Annie Walker's ghost would be preferable to Coronation Street's answer to Liberace.
Bet Lynch is a true Corrie legend, and Julie Goodyear is great. She kicks the arses of the likes of Tina McIntyre, Stella and some other female characters currently in it.
If she is willing just to comeback for a one off, I see no reason not to, and there is a reason to. Unlike the pointless return of Dennis Tanner, who has been here for 5 months and done hardly anything at all apart from scrounge of Rita.
I think if Julie is prepared to return in honour of Betty she should. Bet lynch is a character the likes of we dont see anymore. ettys funeral without her is unthinkable.= Micky
Bet Lynch was absolute legend in her time behind the bar.
She and Betty were great friends and co-workers, getting up to all sorts.
It would be a treat to see her back for Betty's funeral, but, like many other cast members who never returned ( Hilda is one good example) it's doubtful.
It would be great though, wouldn't it?
I would have thought Thelma Barlow (Mavis) might be persuaded to return for that episode, if asked.
That's funny, I was going to mention Mavis as one who didn't come back as well.
I always felt she could/should have come back for a visit, she and Rita were such friends.
Sometimes it seems Coronation Street is an island, separated from the mainland.
Seldom do former residents come back, although Todd did last Easter and Dennis did after, what, 40 years?
For what reason, we've yet to find out.
Oh I do hope that Bet will come back for just an episode. It would be a lovely tribute to both the actress and character.
If think Maggie Clegg should come back, I believe Irene Sutcliffe is still acting, didn't she appear in an episode of Doc Martin and Midsomor murders in the not too distant past??
A superb idea! That would be a great idea - something different for the writers to get their teeth into.
I would love to see Hilda Ogden roll up in her wheelchair, with Eddie Yates pushing her on.
