Phil Collinson shares some spoilers
Phil Collinson was on ITV’s This Morning earlier today, and shared a few tidbits with us about what to expect over the coming months.
Have a look at the full interview here, or read on for a quick summary:
- Tyrone is set to find love again with a new character called Kirsty, but it won’t be plain sailing with all his baggage from the past year.
- Eileen’s getting herself a new man – a fireman, no less – but he’ll be coming with a secret that’ll affect their relationship.
- Carla is set for a major storyline with Frank and Peter in the autumn, with a week of post-watershed episodes. Carla and Peter’s relationship will be explored again, causing trouble for Leanne.
- Fiz is heading for jail, charged with three counts of murder. Police will suspect her to have played a part in husband John’s killing spree.
An interesting mix of storylines coming up in the latter part of 2011. What do we make of them here at Coronation Street Blog? Comment below!

If they're really sending Fiz to jail for murder, and we know she's innocent, then soap law dictates something has to be uncovered to free her. My prediction is that John Stape will return after being captured or he might even turn himself in if he's heard about Fiz's incarceration.
I hope they do explore Tyrone's baggage, he is bound to have some nasty trust issues after what Molly and his best mate have done to him.
Tyrone is the sweetest guy in the world and deserves a nice girl, just as we viewers deserve a happy telling of his stumbling path to bliss. Eileen is waaaayyy overdue, but I'll resist making comments about firemen and poles (oops).
Carla and Peter and Frank, oh my!! This witty, ambitious lady as part of a triangle, again, or worse, going after someone else's husband, again, it's too much. Boring. Tedious. I hate it already.
Fiz banged up, *sigh*. Weatherfield should get a prize for the least competent police force.
Surely they can't be holding Fiz accountable for all 3 murders, she was laying prostrate in premature labour when Charlotte was bumped off!!
Can't they think of something better to with Carla than have her in another love triangle with Peter..........yaaaaaaaawn! I'd like to see Leanne and Peter have a happy storyline for a bit before any more turmoil hits their life.
They're bringing in quite a few new characters as love interests, it seems - makes things slightly less incestuous than having the existing characters swap partners all the time! It can make for cast bloat, though, so they'll want to be careful.
I'm glad to see that they are going to be exploring Tyrone's post-Molly issues.
I'm not convinced Fiz will actually be convicted of any murders she didn't commit - I reckon her prison time will be on remand while awaiting trial, that the police will try to pin the murders on her as an accomplice since they can't find John, but I can't see there being enough evidence to actually convict her. There can't be, since we know damn well she was nowhere near any of the deaths - any evidence is purely circumstantial. I suppose we'll have to see how it plays out.
I really hope they don't go down the road of an affair between Carla and Peter. I think there's enough material for an interesting story without that, playing on their existing friendship, Carla's desire for more, Peter's sense of responsibility for Carla and desire to do the right thing by her if she's in trouble (which we know she will be), Leanne's insecurity, the trust issues between Peter and Leanne...
But what about Pam!?
I know I'm not the only one who is wondering where our Pammy has been for the past 6 months.
A brilliant scene when Molly was killed and then after the funeral - nothing.
Come on Corrie - let us have the Team Pam fix we all need. Corrie can't let the funny and much loved characters just disappear.
Betty and the girls - Big Pammy lovers.
Keep Fizz out of jail. Put Dierdre back instead :-)
I'll even buy the tee shirt to get the campaign rolling.
I predict Fizz will be in jail, oh for about the length of a typical cast-member holiday. And I'll also predict she'll have a tan when she comes out!
Pam was such an unremarkable character. Have you EVER seen someone selling ham out of a basket in a pub? She was like a poor version of a Shameless character. No reflection on the actress of course- she was brilliant in the scenes just after Molly died. But I think the character was a non-starter
I want Tyrone to be happy and find someone that deserves him.... He is funny when he is happy and his character should get a chance to smile again!
all the new actors are so wooden it,s as though they,ve never acted before ie james roys mom it seems as though they cant come up to the plate go back to stage school or but how has james got there is it because william roche is his true father
free fizz she is innocent
