The month started off with a crash and ended with one. There was the crash of a body hitting the hospital carpark, the crash of a sledgehammer on the Barlow table and the crash of a barstool flying through the window of the pub. Poor Fiz is in limbo and facing charges.
Becky and Steve's marraige has imploded, much as most of us expected would happen sooner or later. Graeme and Tina's relationship blew up as well, though Graeme, at least, left with a wife he never expected to fall in love with.
The Rovers has a new name over the door and the first week has been quite a bumpy ride for Stella Price. All this in detail over on the State of the Street for June.

Agree re: Stella. I was dubious about an actress who's already made her name on another soap being cast, but I think she and her character will settle in fine. I am from the North and I don't mind her accent. Peter and Chris both have Midlands accents, Becky has a strong South Yorks accent; it doesn't matter that much.
I wonder with the Xin/Graeme storyline if the writers had to bung her in as quickly as possible to give time for the romance to develop once they were married. I guess it would have been better if Tina had met Xin as the storyline commenced rather than her being a hitherto unseen "old friend".
It might not have rubbed the wrong way so much if Xin had been a brand new friend and it might have played out a bit more believable, oddly enough
There was no point in torturing us with a weak story. Graeme could have had cash flow issues and simply left to work on Uncle Len's German project. Would have made a good story for Tina and Graeme, without the credibility stretching.
I'm liking Stella and hope she'll make a friend or two. Not bothered by her speech; to my Yankee ear, everybody on the show has an 'English' accent, unless they're from Ireland. Yeah, I know, flame away. Karl, yay, Eva, nay, besides as a part of the Leanne story, can't see any purpose for her.
How did Deirdre & Ken get everything tidied up so quickly?
Well I'm from NZ and have watched Corrie along with lots of other British programs for many many years. It's made me able to distinguish between region dialects to a degree and while Stella's accent is kind of passable, the main prob I have with it is... Having seen her in plenty of programs (not E/Enders), it's just not what I'm expecting to come out of her mouth, therefore making it just not right.
It looks like peanut butter but it tastes like marmite is the best way I can describe it. As I said, just not right!!
