Did Stella offer an explanation as to what could have possibly gone through her mind (or absence thereof) that led her to bed down with Les? Is this another date-rape storyline? Good heavens.
Leanne was pregnant at about 18 or 19 when she was married to Nick who persuaded her to have an abortion. Leanne might eventually feel sympathy for her mother and understand her inability to cope. She might wonder how she herself would have fared if she had gone on to have the baby.
How staged was it that Peter opened Stella's purse and looked into it and infringement of privacy. Who opens and looks into a purse unless you have found it dont know who it belongs to. It should have just been dropped on the floor by mistake, then Peter would have had the excuse to open and pry into it.
er, does Leanne know that her real mum is called 'Stella'...if so, wouldn't she perhaps work it out? Are we to believe she didn't know her mum's name (implausible)...or will 'Stella' turn out to be a nickname or something??
Why do so many people assume that Les must have abused Stella in some way when that is very clearly not the case - he certainly wouldn't have ended up with custody of Leanne if he had! Both Les and Stella would have been different people 30 years ago and it really isn't that hard to believe that they might have had a relationship that resulted in an unexpected pregnancy. There have been much stranger pairings on-screen!
As for Peter looking in Stella's purse, of course he had to check whose it was. He assumed that it was Stella's because he found it under the flowers she left, but he didn't know for sure - he wouldn't want to give it to the wrong person, so of course he'd have to check for ID to make sure.
All Stella said was that she was very young, i suppose we'll get more when she tells Leanne. I agree, Peter was checking the wallet for id and that nothing seemed missing. It's on the counter of a betting shop, after all.
I suppose Karl is a little like Les...just a little...
I think it's a far stretch to presume that someone joking about what anyone would see in Les equates to a genuine accusation of "abuse" made by "everyone". Even 30 years ago, I can't imagine Les had an attractive personality, never mind his physical looks. Janice and he only seemed to share their big mouths and backlash. Maybe it was just the mystery of an "older man" that turned Stella's head.
