Your verdict: What did you think of Michelle Collins on Coronation Street?

So, she's here. After weeks of spoilers and blog posts about her, Michelle Collins finally turned up in tonight's Coronation Street as Stella Price.  Come on then, let's have it - what did you think?

She has the makings of a right proper landlady!

AWFUL. There is nothing worse than a forced northern accent. Why did she need to be northern? Would have been so much better if she'd had her real accent, not everyone in Corrie has to be from the north you know! Rant over.

Having seen the clip earlier I was worried about the accent but after that first appearance, that's the only worry I have and hopefully that will get better. A good first episode from Stella.

Shortest interview ever! Think she'll be fine, accent not too bad, a younger Sylvia Cropper perhaps?! :-)

I think she'll be fine once she settles in - the accent will become smoother as she practices and we'll get used to hearing her voice like that! The character nas bags of potential.

As for why the accent, as I understand it, Michelle Collins wanted to give Stella a northern accent to make a clear distinction between this role and Cindy Beale.character choice

I like the way they brought her in subtly (unlike the brash promo). Thought it was one of the best eps for ages. Great interactions; great dialogue; and great to see Simon Gregson being able to do some comedy again. He's truly precious to the future of Corrie. And Damon Rochefort is the show's best writer.

I thought she was fine - and the accent sounded OK to me. Looking forward to seeing more of her.

I thought Michelle Collins would play the part well, but sorry can't stand the accent. i'm not sure if I can watch much more. The only character accent i have felt compelled to write about. I would have rather heard her own voice.

Very good episode. I like Stella - and I'm sure the roughness of the accent will soften in time. :)

Can't comment on the accent, but anyone who is part of Tracy's takedown is okay by me. Agree with everyone, another great ep with relationships and character development. Even Tommy & Cheryl had some dimension. We're going to be spoiled.

Where is Steve going to move to, Lloyd's soon to be empty apartment?

I thought she was ok, even the accent wasn't all that horrible. I've heard worse! Some cracking great stuff tonight as well!

Suppose Steve now will be smitten with Stella and forget all about Becky....attention span of a bumble bee but then this is a soap opera! Corie in Seattle

I think there is definite potential in the character, the accent sounded OK but I will admit to being a Londoner albeit one who has spent a lot of time in Manchester

Shes no Bet Lynch but she has potential.

She was Ok, better than I thought but yes the shortest interview ever with more like her interviewing Steve than the the other way around. I think Stella would have been better on her own to establish her character rather than carting in yet another two characters to add to the already bulging cast.

I'd say the problem with the accent isn't that it's bad - more that we've spent twenty years hearing Michelle Collins talk in her natural London accent. It'll take some getting used to (like hearing Audrey's extremely posh real voice!).

Accent schmaccent...who cares..if I can understand what she's saying that's all I care about. I couldn't understand anything Claudia said through her clenched teeth or Marcus who looked like his teeth were going to pop out of his mouth at any moment!!

Never mind Michelle Collins, I LOVED the first interviewee (didn't catch her name) - what a comic talent! Bring her back in some way!

Just seen her too many times in eastenders

Is she Fred Dibners daughter!! that accent takes the show back to the first ep! Let's give her a whippet on some string and turn her into a chimney sweep!

Has theee got any turps?,

Disapointed at the new story line to the Rovers. think there should of been more thought given , to the choice of land lady.but the show will go on !!

I think she has great potential. I loved last nights double episodes and found them the best in a long long time. There is a new broom in the rovers and with it a breath of fresh air!- Micky

Just Michelle Collins interview.
Her research into the accent must have focused on watching Fred Elliott. So....So.........So.

Absolutely terrible. There are so many Northern actresses that could have been cast, she wasn't all that as Cindy Beale either. This is a case of a name over talent. Lazy casting, appalling decision.
