Over the past year, she has turned from a likeable character to a moaning, shouting, house wrecking overused character, which is down to "Too much screentime-itus." I'm sure many will agree with me.
Watching the Romanian Holiday DVD, it reminded me why I used to like Becky. She was fun, outgoing, with no Tracy to moan about or no Max for her to steal.
And now she's turned into this, which is a waste of a character. It's a pity, I used to like the character so much, one of my favourites, but I've had enough of her drunken rampages and I usually switch channels when she comes on. Enough is enough.
Thankfully she is leaving soon. There's only so much an audience can take. So, as you can see, it's a firm NAY from me. What about you?

At the moment NAY. She used to be a good character - prior her affair with Steve. Her scenes with Roy and Ken in the cafe were classic as well as Blanche. I agree that she's been way overused. She's had too much storylines in little time. The secret to the likes of Rita and Ken's longevity is that they didn't have big storylines straight after each other - and the fact that there were only two episodes a week. There are over 50 in the cast, and still it's the same characters who appear - Becky, Steve, Tracy, Tina, Fiz, Websters. What about Eileen, Julie, Emily, Deirdre, Rita, Dennis Tanner (btw, what's the purpose of him being back - he's not had a proper storyline - why was he homeless?)? I think Katherine Kelly has had enough.
It's a Yay from me. I'm glad they didn't reform Becky. So many characters get a personality transplant. Becky always was a loose cannon and yes, with Roy and Hayley's support, she started to believe in herself and with Steve's love, that helped settle her down some. But it never took much for her to retreat to her old spiky self and this most recent upset really was enough to push her over the edge. I think it was inevitable that the character come full circle yet she has grown up some underneath it all. Steve did the right thing but it was a horrible betrayal to her and he does keep pandering to Tracy to keep Amy in his life. He has her bound by a legal piece of paper that won't stop Tracy if she really wants to take Amy away.
If he'd had a spine all along, he would have been more support for Becky and they wouldn't have got into all the messes they have.
A Nay from me and let me firstly say what a great actress Katherine Kelly is, Shakespearn trained I understand . BUT they way overused Becky when they found she was a popular character and we all got totally fed up of her in every scene and every story almost. The pairing with Steve never gelled and there is no chemistry between them. There is no way someone in the real world would get away with what she has, she would be inside or sectioned. Like everyone I am now fed up to the back teeth of her and cant wait until December when she goes for good. The writers and producers just ruined her.
Yay from me, wish she hadn't been so overused and is now a parody of the character that was. But still like Becky, Tis a pity she never had an affair with Ken though, That would have been the icing on the cake, It would have bonded Tracy and Deirdre and made them a force to be reckoned with, At the moment Deirdre has lost her vajazzle in a grecian amphora.
It's a NAY from me -- I'm in Canada where we're a few months behind still, and I'm already tired of her. (On our screens, Kylie showed up about a week ago) Too much Becky too soon, and I agree that the relationship with Steve was never very convincing. It's as if he woke up one morning and decided to chuck Michelle for her. I think the powers that be just decided Steve needed another demanding nutcase as a partner and Michelle wasn't cutting the mustard. Becky in small doses, particularly with the Croppers, can be great. She should have been handled as a condiment, as it were, rather than a main dish.
Nay from me too... Ever since she came back after her, brief stint. And personally, I just can"t agree that she is a great actress. Almost every scene seems to end with her looking off int th.e distance. The sooner she goes the better, IMHO.
Nay. Over acting all the time. On the screen far too much and Steve has been turned into even more of a lap dog than he was before. Steve needs a rest too.
nay I'm afraid. Gone on too long.
Becky was and is fantastic with Roy, Hayley and Amy. I agree with D.I., the relationship with Steve popped up out of nowhere and never worked at any level. The stories are tedious and unbelievable; how could any actor do well when given nonsense to work with. I wish Becky could have simply been Amy's favorite baby sitter, Steve's crazy drinking buddy and streetwise reality check, and the saucy cafe girl. Oh well.
It's a nay from me. I've never liked her, ever, not even with her relationshp with Roy and Hayley (who I adore).
Nay- definitely the thing that really bothers is that she is supposed to have some wonderful "Heart if Gold" but other than Roy saying it every five minutes I've seen no evidence of that. Shes supposed to care about Amy so damn much but she has no problem smashing up her house? Becky wants Amy but I see little evidence she gives a damn about her or Max even. Even Tracy has come through for Peter or Amy once in a while but all Becky does is cause chaos and then whine about how its not her fault.
Loved Becks in the beginning but she has been pushed down our throats continuously. Best with Roy and Hales and in the Cafe....Steve and the Rovers started her death knell. Sick of the over the top sucking in of those bloody cigarettes, jewellery overload, drunken rampages and 'I'm just not worthy' rants....all sympathy has gone out this window.
Never liked her from the time she set Kelly up and she ended up with a criminal record..that was never resolved. KK is a good actress but her character's been done to death.Time for her to go.
Nay nay nay! Horrible character
The last six months =Nay- as the minute she got Max she went downhill. Having said that I am loving her anctics this week. At least her character is consistent which is often a moan on here- Micky
Nay. I've never liked her either, though I agree with others here that Katherine Kelly seems to be a fine actress. Becky's definitely had way too much screen time with stories that go no where. Even when she smashed up the Barlows it was ultimately still a big yawn. They need to do something with her very soon otherwise it'll be so painful waiting for December.
Yay from me. I actually liked many of the moments her & Steve had together, especially upstairs when Liz was around. Becky had many tender moments with Amy and then Max, but fate intervened with any hope for the long-term. She was a good rock for Tracy to hit up against, and didn't take any snark from her.
I agree with Tvor that it would have been silly to give her a personality transplant. Her spiral back down to the bottom where she started did take too much screen time, and should have been done with more interesting twists though. I hope the writers can handle her slow exit better than they have been. Katherine Kelly deserves better.
It's a nay from me, too. I'm glad Katherine Kelly is leaving - for her sake as well as ours. The best actors on Corrie keep their performance tight like Roy, John Stape, Sally. All this flinging yourself around as though you're in a Restoration comedy doesn't work on TV. I blame the directors. They get quality and then ruin it,as they've done with the famous names.
Whew, I can still post...
It's a yay from this Canadian, (46yrs old and been "watching" since before exiting the belly!). Bek's is a great character, albiet way over used lately. However it would be good to see her severed from Steve and set up as the Cafe girl. I could easily see her having enough of Sylvia, handing the ol' bat her marching orders and taking up the role of Cropper defender/crazy cafe chick.
If you really want a Nay out of me ask about Kylie, Xin or Sally. Or as I refer to the trio ~ the three stages of Sallyness.
And is it me or has Gail become a version of Ivy?
