According to research by EDF Energy, Coronation Street characters are the 2nd best at being environmentally friendly. Even more surprisingly, Rosie Webster is the character third best at reducing their carbon footprint and Ken Barlow was fifth.
The research was based on how often characters used public transport, the amount of times they used electrical equipment and if they remembered to switch them off, and using local markets, amongst other criteria.
Obviously, this isn't something to take too seriously, as I doubt the scriptwriters are actively trying to make the characters greener, but what does everyone else think?

They certainly do their bit by recycling and reusing stories.
It's entertainment - not social comment. Is this so-called research by EDF funded by my ever-rising gas and electricity bills?
Rosie??? Reducing carbon footprint??? The same Rosie who over-consumes clothes, shoes and bags, burns kitchens, and uses make-up likely tested on animals??? Rosie???
I know the environment is important but I still detest the earnest, naggy tone of these sorts of messages (from EDF, that is, not the blog).
Oh for Pete's sake who cares?
I'd suggest EDF Energy to go do some research that actually might be useful instead of analyzing soaps to see which is the greenest. Pure nonsense.
Yeah, no wonder why. The characters work and live on the same street!
