This week's street style was inspired by a reader who wanted to know where they could find the lovely curtains in Maria Connor's living room.
Maria Connor's abode just happens to be my favorite on the street! Well, tied with Dev's new condo. I am a true believer that a person's home says a lot about them, and fictional characters are not excluded from that belief. I categorized Maria's home style as "shabby chic" because that's exactly what it is. She's got a lot of modern furniture with some antique cosy accents. Just like Coronation Street, it's a bit of old and new. Her colour scheme is dependent on warm neutrals with a few splashes of bright green and plum. This look is very modern, very youthful, and very feminine. All that is Maria Connor. Also, her living room is a fairly new re-do. It wasn't too long ago she was ripping down the old paper that symbolized the home that her and Liam shared together. Stripping down that old paper, brightening up the space and adding her own personal style elements symbolizes her moving on with her life from that which she shared with her precious Liam. Now she has a place that is uniquely hers for her and her new baby.
Whereas none of these pieces are exactly what was used on the Coronation Street set, I have tried to get the general design feel of Maria Connor's shabby-chic living room and find pieces that I feel strongly replicated that.

Dont forget the stylish fridge which I think is a SMEG with the letters removed.
Thanks. I enjoyed hearing about her home and all the stuff you found.
I've had to remove some comments from this post, sadly, as they were blatant adverts for home furnishings websites. Shame on you, home furnishing website advertisers, you naughty people.
Oh, her kitchen's great too, but i tried to focus lol.
The fridge is great, plus she has these cute little old-fashioned jars for sugar, flour, etc.
I'm just impressed by her decorating skills. There aren't many heavily pregnant widows who'd be able to single handedly redecorate and refurnish a living room and kitchen. And in only a couple of weeks, too - one minute she's idly peeling a bit of paper of the wall, the next the whole place has been redone in line with her "vision". Get that woman on 60 Minute Makeover!
@ Merseytart, such is the magic of television!
anyone know where the kitchen tiles are from please
love the sideboard/display unit. where can i get one from
I have tried everywhere to get a mirror exactly LIKE Marias (gold heart shape) I even contacted Corrie and the supplier they gave me were not cooperative. Have you seen one? I really want one for my hallway.
Marie
MARIAS MIRROR!!!!!
I searched for weeks trying to find one.. then on a search a web page cam e up - 'silk sisters'. I called them (as they have not set up their page yet) and asked them to describe mirror. They said one just like it was on coronation st. What a coincidence!! Mirror arrived the other day, I'm so pleased!! The kink is on other side on mirror but just as lovely!! Think I'm gonna order another one!
Goodluck!
Very interested in the gold heart shaped mirror. Can anybody tell me how much it cost?
Just found this post again, thanks so much for listing all details. Maria's house is definitely my favourite too, it's a shame we won't be seeing it much now!
HI've been looking for one of those mirrors everywhere, found this page, rang those lovely yorkshire ladies at Silk Sisters and they will have them available again at the end of the month, they cost about £22.
