Since we've all had to endure the tireless, tedious, ridiculous storyline of Claud and Aud fighting over Marc the false-y-toothed cross dresser, I thought I'd feature Claudia "Don't hate me cos you ain't me" Colby's personal style for this edition of "Street Style." I included the red wig in case Marc sees this and would appreciate that I threw it in there because I was thinking of him.

I think Claudia was right all along - Marc really was after her for her style. She is quite the diva! Agree/disagree? Also, did anyone find this storyline entertaining in the least?

The Webster family has been front and center again on Corrie, so I thought a feature on one of the Webster girls would be a good edition for Coronation Street Style. However, instead of "Rosie" I'm going to feature the style of Helen Flanagan - the actress that plays Rosie.

Helen Flanagan will be taking a three month break from Corrie as 'Rosie' and it seems on her break she's had a new makeover - hairstyle - which we've blogged about here before.

I'll assume this means that when she returns she'll have this blond do? I'm not so sure about the cut, but I actually quite liked Rosie more as a blonde. Here's an old pic for those who don't

Street Style: Leanne Battersby's Cardigan

Within the past week I've received many requests asking where fans can get the white cardigan with black butterflies that Leanne was wearing on Monday March 15 and Friday March 12, 2010 episodes.

The lovely folks at ITV have now published an article about the cardi and where it was from. Unfortunately it was a sale item, so for those hoping to get their hands on one it might be more of a struggle than you'd have liked!

To quote Coronation Street's head of costume, Lance Milligan, "It [the cardigan] was perfect to show the softer side of Leanne and move away from the harder look she had as a working girl."

Street Style: Leanne Battersby Winter 2010

Has anyone else been loving Leanne Battersby’s current look? I know I have. Leanne is a woman that has been through it all, and at a relatively young age. Our Leanne has been a married teenager, cocaine addict, worked as a lap-dancer and prostitute, dated a father and son, been involved in an arson scam, been kidnapped and stolen lottery money. Just recently, she tried to make a Bar venture happen that just couldn’t. Will Leanne’s life ever look up? Some might say it has been. Regardless of her ups and downs, Leanne has picked herself up, dusted herself off, and started all over again, and again, and again. Her personal style now reflects her maturity and newfound sophistication.

Leanne puts together a perfect late-winter look. She’s got the class and sophistication with a grey wool single-breasted coat paired with a soft cream scarf for some feminine flair. She also manages to keep a little “edge” and trend with a black leather long chain strap purse. Pairing classic pieces with trendy ones is the ultimate in sophistication.

Street Style: Molly Dobbs' Blue Shift Dress

After a few requests for Molly Dobb's blue zipper shift dress she wore when throwing nasty Jackie Dobbs out of the corner shop, I've decided to do a street style edition on it.

Molly Dobbs' has been dressing very "pussycat doll" lately, at least according to mother-in-law Jackie. I've also noticed her dressing this way as well. As Tvor pointed out in the comment section of last Thursday's episode review, she's dressing to the nines on the thought that Kev will come in there and find her irresistible again, and it'd have all been worth it.

I personally don't think Molly suits the whole "pussycat doll" look. I also found this dress to be far to much for a corner store worker. It also had airs of something that Rosie Webster would wear with all the snugness, cleavage and zippering. She does look good in it, but I think it more suits a night out or date. Just something other than ringing up crackers and soda at the cash register.

I have looked through all the shops online, but could not find an identical match. Molly has worn this dress a few times before in the past, so most likely, it's slightly older and wouldn't be in new inventory online at the moment in many stores. I have done my best to find some similar alternatives. I think the key stylish aspects of this dress are the bright vibrant blue colour, as well as the shift shape. Both are very much in the "now" at the moment.

Street Style: Gail McIntyre's Metallic Parka

Since Monday's episodes I've gotten an overwhelming amount of requests regarding Gail McIntyre's Shiny Metallic Parka!

I thought her parka was absolutely fabulous myself! In fact, I thought it was a bit on the stylish side for Gail. Not that Gail isn't well put-together. Yet, I'm still often shocked when I see her in something snazzy.

I have scoured the net for an identical match, but could not find one. I have however noticed that the shiny metallic coat seems to be quite popular this winter and even into spring.

Street Style: Michelle Connor's Triple Bow Jumper

It's official: you all love clothing with bows! This is the second street style edition I've done based on an article of clothing where the bow plays center-stage. I've had some requests to find the cute brown triple bow jumper that Michelle Connor wore at the Rovers whilst the "Hard Hat Party" was going on. We only saw Michelle in this piece from waist up, so on my searches I couldn't quite find a short jumper (or sweater) that was appropriate, however I did find some triple-bow dresses (or tunics, long jumpers) that were almost dead-on. Unfortunately I couldn't find any in brown!

I found this lovely replica, which I believe is the best, (1 - click here) which is the "Mela Bow Knitted Dress" from New Look. This dress comes in the Vatican Purple (above), black and navy. I found another almost identical alternative (2 - click here), only I think the fabric is slightly more elastic and synthetic than what Michelle had. This dress is the "Uttam Purple Bow Dress" from Dorothy Perkins. Lastly, if you were interested in the triple bow effect, but wanted something in more of a blouse, or just a little different, I also found this extremely cute top (3 - click here) "Sonia by Sonia Rykiel" from My Wardrobe.

Street Style: Maria Connor's Bow Back Coat

Alrighty! I was hesitant to do YET another Street Style feature on the lovely Maria Connor, but I was completely overwhelmed by your requests to find the coat she has been wearing for the past week, and notably, at the christening.

The coat we are talking about is a navy blue, bow-back trench coat. Well, folks, I've got good news and bad news. The good news is that I've found the coat! It is available at TopShop, right under our noses this whole time. (1 - Click here) However, the bad news is that this coat is completely sold out! It seems our loyal Coronation Street Blog fans aren't the only ones who enjoyed this coat! There is even a "short" version of this coat, meaning that it's not long, and sits at the waist. (2 - Click here) The short version is also completely sold out!

The only option left right now is the tall, bow-back trench coat in STONE colour, (3- Click here) but there are only sizes 8 and 10 left, and that's as of TODAY. So if you're interested, jump on it!

I've also found some alternatives as well. If you're more interested in a navy trench with a flared skirt, then TopShop has another (4 - Click here) that's just darling and something that I believe our Maria would also wear.

If you're keen on the bow, then I've found that Asos also sells a bow-back coat. This, however is not a trench, it is a wool coat, and it is not in blue, but purple. (5 - Click here) I think this coat is the cutest thing, and could also see Maria wearing something like this when the weather is warmer.

I hope this edition of Street Style has put your searches to rest! It seems that our Maria Connor has the "midas touch" when it comes to the items in her wardrobe! I too loved this coat!

Street Style: Tina McIntyre's Shopgirl Style

This Street Style edition is featuring Tina McIntyre's shopgirl outfit worn on the Monday August 24, 2009 episodes.

Tina's personal style reflects her personality: youthful, price-conscious, flirty and casual. It's also relatively low-maintenance, compared to some of the ladies on the street of her age (read: Rosie Webster). I find that Tina's personal style is quite close to that of Molly Dobbs'. Only, Tina doesn't try as hard to dress it up as Molly does. This is likely because Tina has a similar lifestyle to Molly's, and her style reflects that lifestyle. She works in a shop, makes a reasonable (minimum?) wage, doesn't have a lot of money to go to a salon, somehow always has a tan, and has a tradesman for a mate.

Needless to say, she has a few showy pieces in her closet and doesn't mind dusting off the sex-appeal when necessary (remember her black ensemble when she was wooing our Jason?), but it's not full of pantsuits and gowns, or any expensive designer pieces. Tina's a woman-on-the-go who doesn't take an hour to dress herself, since she's got bigger fish to fry. Tina manages to look cute, well-kept and respectably dressed. Enough to attract a handsome fella! (Jason, not David).

In any case, Tina's one of those women for whom it really doesn't matter what she wears, because she'll always look great since she's got youth and beauty on her side. She knows that the woman wears the clothes, the clothes don't wear the woman.

Street Style: Maria Connor is a Peasant Girl

This street style edition is featuring a white bibbed peasant blouse with an old-world blue embroidery pattern that Maria Connor wore on the Friday July 31st, 2009 episode.

Once again, Maria Connor is on the cutting edge of every-day style for us Corrie watchers. While these types of blouses are really popular these days I can't say that I'm 100% sure that Maria bought this for herself.

When looking for a replica, I couldn't help but notice how similar this blouse is to traditional Greek apparel. Or really, any old-world village wear, hence the name "peasant" blouse. After noticing this similarity, I couldn't help but wonder if this blouse may have been a gift from her parents, whom are currently living in Cyprus. It could have been something that Kirk-eh brought back from his latest visit, along with Julie.

Also, since Maria wore this in her scenes with baby Liam's grandparents, I think it possibly could have been wore even as an ode to her parents. Seeing as they haven't visited once since baby Liam Jr. arrived.

Street Style: Maria Connor's Turquoise Delight

This Street Style edition is featuring a turquoise pendant necklace that Maria Connor wore on the Friday July 24th, 2009 episodes.

Maria's jewellry selection reflects her personal style: chic, timeless, and young with a little bit of funk. Notice how she wears this turquoise necklace with a white camisole and a plum cardigan. Those items don't "match", but they "go." Pairing bold colours together is very chic and up-to-date. No matching eyeshadow to the twin-set for Maria!

The necklace may have been a gift from Liam, or a friend. But more than likely, it's an item she bought for herself. I think Maria is an independent woman, and I hope she stays that way! If you know what I'm sayin'!

Street Style: Corrie Classic, The Jack Duckworth Files

Where to begin? How about at the beginning? Jack Duckworth definitely embodies "classic Corrie" since his arrival on the street in 1979. Up until this very day, Jack Duckworth remains to be an invaluable character on Corrie and one of my personal favorites!

Plainly put, Jack Duckworth is a man who enjoys the simple things in life: sipping a pint, enjoying his pigeons, and relaxing at home in his vest. Ever since the passing of his dearest Vera, Jack Duckworth has found his feet and a new lease on life again with the help of good old friends and the companionship of a new friend, Connie.

Jack's classic style is clearly based in the trends of decades passed. Jack is a reasonable, unfashionable man who dresses for function, not style. He's simply too cool to care. However ironic, Jack's careless style of decades past is beginning to come full-circle. His style is no longer out-dated, but "retro", or "vintage." It's like running laps: sometimes you're so far behind that eventually when everyone catches around to you up again it looks like you're ahead!

Street Style: Maria Connor's Shabby Chic!

This week's street style was inspired by a reader who wanted to know where they could find the lovely curtains in Maria Connor's living room.

Maria Connor's abode just happens to be my favorite on the street! Well, tied with Dev's new condo. I am a true believer that a person's home says a lot about them, and fictional characters are not excluded from that belief. I categorized Maria's home style as "shabby chic" because that's exactly what it is. She's got a lot of modern furniture with some antique cosy accents. Just like Coronation Street, it's a bit of old and new. Her colour scheme is dependent on warm neutrals with a few splashes of bright green and plum. This look is very modern, very youthful, and very feminine. All that is Maria Connor. Also, her living room is a fairly new re-do. It wasn't too long ago she was ripping down the old paper that symbolized the home that her and Liam shared together. Stripping down that old paper, brightening up the space and adding her own personal style elements symbolizes her moving on with her life from that which she shared with her precious Liam. Now she has a place that is uniquely hers for her and her new baby.

Whereas none of these pieces are exactly what was used on the Coronation Street set, I have tried to get the general design feel of Maria Connor's shabby-chic living room and find pieces that I feel strongly replicated that.

Street Style: Molly Dobbs' cargo jeans look

Inspired by one of our readers, I have decided to start a special segment called Street Style. Do you ever see clothes worn by Corrie characters and want to know where you can get them? Or a suitable substitute? The aim of Street Style is to feature outfits or items of interest on our favourite characters so readers at home have the opportunity to wear them.

This week's street style is in response to a reader who wanted to know where they could get Molly Dobbs' cargo jeans. I'm personally not a fan of this style, the cargo jeans in particular. Myself, I would most likely pair this outfit with a skinny ankle jean and a longer blouse instead of a polo.

This look suits Molly perfectly because you can see she still has quite a bit of youth leftover in her personal style with the cargo pants and the shoes, but then she tries to make herself a little more stylish and mature by adding the blazer. Whereas, the polo shirt tells me she's not a woman with a lot of button-downs in her wardrobe, which means she doesn't have a professional job and as a result, is most likely a budget shopper. Also, the bag is typically trendy, and the ear-rings are a flash of glam, which indicate she cares a lot about how she looks and wants to present herself as such.

Keep in mind, this is also the outfit she goes to see Kevin in and we all know she has an interest in him, so I think the attempt to mature her look with the blazer and collared shirt could have been for his benefit.

So, here's our take on how you could get Molly Dobbs' cargo-jean look. We're not saying these are the exact same clothes which are featured on Coronation Street, but we'll try to find the closest match we can for fans who'd like to dress like their favourite Corrie characters.
